She was a woman who worked from before dawn, and the only thing that defeated her was distance. Whenever she came home after walking any way at all, she would arrive spent — not tired in the way a busy woman is tired, but emptied, unable to do the smallest task, unable even to speak above a thin slow voice.

And in that voice she would call the boy over and tell him to come and sit on the bone at the left side of her waist. He was small; he sat where he was told and stayed there a while. Then something happened that he had no words for. Strength came back into her voice first. After that she would get up and do the whole day's housework in a way that nobody watching would have believed of the woman who had been crying out in distress a short time before.

What he took from it was one sentence, and he could not take any more than that, because he was a child: in the bone of our left waist something is made which removes the body's weakness. What that something was, he did not know. So he put it away and did not think much about it.

Years later a Gujarati woman came for treatment with pain on the left side of her waist — the same place. He remembered his mother. He wanted the woman to lie on her side so he could work there, and she did not understand a word he was saying. So he lay down on the floor himself and showed her. And out of her mouth came the word for what he was doing: "Oh! Parkhoo?" From that day the treatment has carried her word for its name. She got immediate and, in her own account, miraculous relief — and she said that ordinarily she got that much benefit only from an injection of Vitamin B₁₂.

That last sentence of hers is where this article begins, and it opens a problem that the previous article could not have raised. A vitamin is, by definition, a thing the body cannot build for itself. Every formula you have met until now asks an organ to make something — heparin from the mast cells, something plasmin-like from the pancreas, acetylcholine, prostaglandins, calcium drawn out of bone. Here the therapy names formulas after four substances that no human cell has the machinery to manufacture: folic acid, thiamine, vitamin B₁₂ and niacin.

So what, exactly, is a pair of hands supposed to be doing?

The therapy's own answer is printed in its own words and it is narrower and better than the name of the formula suggests. Of the B₁₂ formula it says: by this treatment it was seen that the absorption of Vitamin B₁₂ in the body increases. Of the folic acid formula it says that this treatment either increases the production of folic acid or its absorption — offering both and choosing neither. Hold on to that pair of sentences. They are the difference between a claim that cannot be true and a claim that is ordinary, testable and worth making.

The notation is closed. Every bracket, prefix, ring, glyph, × sign and points suffix in this article was taught once and completely in Table 13 of How a Formula Is Built, "How a Formula Is Built", and is not explained again. Every written rest — the one minute between rounds of a point, the ninety seconds between repeats of a formula — is in Table 8 of that same article, with its reason attached. Two small spellings you will meet on a card: Gas खाली is Gas Only, and – 6 वाला is – 6 points — the number of stations in one pass, never the hold.

Three points, and an order that cannot be turned about

The story at the head of this article gave a place and a result. What turned it into a formula was twenty years of reading afterwards.

After the Gujarati woman said what she said, the estimate was formed that this treatment must be provoking the production of Vitamin B₁₂. Then the books were read, and the relation between the pains of the body and the symptoms of B₁₂ deficiency was observed patient after patient. And it was found that in all those who had symptoms of Vitamin B₁₂ deficiency there was extreme pain at the point in front of the femur bone on the left side. That part is called the iliac fossa.

Then two further facts were read and set beside it.

One. Among the places in which red blood cells are made in the body after the age of twenty is the ilia — that is, the bones of the pelvis.

Two. Vitamin B₁₂ is made by the bacteria of the intestine.

Therefore that painful point began to be called the B₁₂ point, whose treatment was done by the treatment named Left Parkhoo.

And then the last piece, which decided the other two steps of the formula: in the body, in the liver, there remains a stock of Vitamin B₁₂ of only five to six years, and the gall bladder is the godown of the liver where bile is kept.

From those four facts the formula assembles itself, and it assembles in one particular order.

In this formula the gall bladder was provoked first, and the liver afterwards — the meaning of which is just this: first empty the godown, and afterwards send the new thing.

That is one of the plainest pieces of reasoning anywhere in the formulary, and any householder understands it without being taught. A grain store with last year's stock still sitting at the back does not take this year's harvest well. You clear it out first, and then what comes in is what gets used. The gall bladder holds what the liver has put by; the liver holds the several-year store of the vitamin. Empty, then refill, then go to the place where the making happens. Reverse those and you are pouring new grain onto old.

THE WORDS WE USE

Parkhoo — a treatment named by a patient

Parkhoo (परखू) is a Gujarati word. It is the everyday equivalent of the Hindi karvat (करवट) — to turn onto one's side. It is not a technical term and it never was: it is what a woman said when a man lay down on the floor to show her the position he wanted her in, and it stuck.

There is something worth noticing in that. Most of the point names in this wiki are anatomical (Liv, Pan, Para), or chemical (Folic, Thia, Nia), or the given name of a person in whose case a manoeuvre was found (Ajay, Raman, Vasanti). This one is the patient's own word for what was being asked of her body, in a language the therapist did not speak. A therapy that takes its vocabulary from the people it treats is a particular kind of therapy.

How Rt. and Lt. Parkhoo are given — the side the patient lies on, the pillows between both knees, the knees drawn up so that the edge of the thigh bone presents itself, the two stations worked alternately, and the count in which two equal one — is taught whole in On the Side, "On the Side". It is not repeated here. (8) Lt Parkhoo is sixteen presses, eight above and eight below.

What the two vitamins do together, and two signs that follow from their shortage

It is only by both Vitamin B₁₂ and folic acid being present that the red blood cells obtain maturity. Without these two vitamins RBC's cannot become mature — that is, cannot be made ready.

If there is a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂ in the body, blackness comes into the knuckles behind the fingers of both hands.

After paralysis, the foot remaining dropped — drop foot, that is, walking by dragging the foot — this too happens because of Vitamin B₁₂ deficiency.

The word doing the work in the first of those is maturity. Nothing is being said about how many red cells a marrow turns out; the claim is about whether they are finished. A cell that cannot finish itself is not a smaller cell — it is a larger one, still growing while it waits for a part that has not arrived.

THE WORDS WE USE

Maturity, and why an unfinished red cell comes out too big

A red cell in the marrow grows first and divides afterwards. To divide, it must copy its DNA, and one of the four letters of DNA cannot be built without a carbon unit that folate carries. Folate can only hand that carbon over with B₁₂ standing beside it.

Take either one away and the cell goes on doing everything it still can do — it goes on growing, goes on making its protein — and simply cannot divide on time. So it sits there getting bigger. That is why the anaemia of these two shortages is the one in which the cells are large, and why the therapy's sentence is exactly right: without these two, red cells cannot become mature.

And because folate and B₁₂ meet at that one step, a shortage of either produces the same anaemia — which is the reason the whole of this article treats them as one family and almost never gives one without the other.

The knuckles, the face, the sitting test — and which waist is sore

This is the part of the article a therapist uses every single working day, because it is not a formula; it is a way of looking at somebody who has come about something else entirely.

Or, after sitting cross-legged for a fairly long time, sometimes the feet go to sleep — and they feel asleep immediately after getting up but come right again within a few seconds.

If, after sitting like this and then getting up, the feet stay asleep, then it should be understood that a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂ has come into the body.

Read the third and fourth of those together, because on their own each is useless and together they are a test. Everybody's feet go to sleep on the floor. That is not a finding; it is what happens to a leg folded under a body for twenty minutes, and a therapist who calls it a deficiency will be calling half of India deficient. The finding is in the recovery. Stand up, and within a few seconds an ordinary foot is a foot again. The foot that is still asleep a minute later has said something the first foot did not.

A CASE FROM PRACTICE

The anganwadi worker who had "always been like this"

A composite case, assembled to teach the reasoning rather than taken from one patient's file.

Sarojini Devi · 46 · anganwadi worker · a village in Ballia district · came with pain in both knees and "no strength in the body"

What she said. "Knees, madam. And there is no strength. I cannot stand at the centre for the whole morning any more. But strength — that has been gone for years, that is nothing new." She said the second half apologetically, as a thing not worth the therapist's time, and would not have mentioned it had she not been asked twice.

What was observed and palpated. A strict vegetarian household, as the whole village is — no egg, no fish, and milk only in tea. Tongue smooth and a little sore at the edges, with none of the usual coating. The skin over the knuckles of both hands distinctly darker than the skin between them, which she had never once noticed and which her daughter, standing beside her, said had been there "a long time". A patch of darkening on both cheekbones she had put down to the sun. On gentle inward pressure she was tender at Gas, and on side-lying she had a great deal of pain at the left waist — the B₁₂ point — and almost none at the right.

The sitting test. She was asked to sit cross-legged, as she does all morning at the centre, and then to stand. A minute later both feet were still asleep, and she was surprised to be asked about it: "That always happens. Everyone's feet do that."

Which reports mattered. She had none. She was sent, that week, for a serum B₁₂ measurement — the single cheapest and most useful test anybody could order for that picture — and asked to bring whatever strip of paper came back. An old X-ray of one knee changed nothing; such wear is found in plenty of knees that do not hurt.

What was chosen, and why. Not a knee formula. Left waist tender, right waist quiet, knuckles black, feet staying asleep, tiredness of years — that is the B₁₂ picture entire, and (3) Gal (7) Liv (8) Lt Parkhoo is the formula written for it. Digestive work went first, because every gland takes its raw material from the end products of digestion.

What went wrong, and how it was caught. In the fifth week her report came back low, and her physician started her on injections. She arrived the following week very cheerful and said she would now stop coming, "since the injection is doing it." She was told the plain thing: the injection puts the vitamin in; the work here is aimed at the digestion and absorption that decide what your body holds on to. She kept both. At three months the knuckles were visibly lighter, the feet came right on standing, and she was working the full morning.

What this case teaches

She did not come about the tiredness. Patients do not report what they have stopped counting as a symptom. The second question is what found it.

The sitting test is free, takes a minute, and separates an ordinary numb foot from a finding.

Look at the backs of the hands of every patient you treat. It costs nothing and it is one of the few things in this therapy you can see across a room.

The formula and the injection are not competitors. One supplies; the other is aimed at what decides absorption. Say that to the patient in those words, and she will keep both.

TAKE CARE

What a suspected B₁₂ shortage needs, and when it will not wait

This is the therapy's own boundary, stated in The Hand That Heals and unchanged since: we use no medicine of any kind, and we do not tell a patient to stop theirs. It has a second half, and here is where it bites hardest.

A B₁₂ shortage is one of the very few things a therapist meets that is cheap to measure and cheap to correct — and that does permanent damage if it is left running. The tiredness and the blood come right whenever they are treated. The nerves do not. Numbness and pins and needles in both feet, unsteadiness that is worse in the dark, a burning tongue, a memory that has changed — these can arrive with a perfectly ordinary blood count, and the longer they run the less of them comes back.

So: a patient with any reason to be short — a strictly vegetarian household, long years on a diabetes tablet, long years on an antacid, a stomach or bowel operation, chronic loose motions, unexplained anaemia, or any persistent numbness, unsteadiness or memory change — is sent for the test now. Not after a course of treatments. Now. Give the formula alongside, and write down what the number was before and what it is after. That is the honest use of the finding, and it is a better record than anything else in this article.

And one word about what you say. Do not tell a patient whose report came back normal that her report is secretly abnormal. Tell her the truth, which is more useful: that test has ruled out what it looks for; what I find with my hands is a tender left waist and black knuckles, and this is what I propose to do about it.

DID YOU KNOW?

The longest journey any nutrient makes

Almost everything in food is absorbed wherever it happens to be. This one vitamin is handed from carrier to carrier down the whole length of the gut like a parcel through four sets of hands.

Saliva puts the first wrapper on it. The stomach's acid tears it off the protein it arrived stuck to. The stomach's own lining then makes a second carrier — a substance made nowhere else in the body — and in the duodenum the parcel is transferred onto it. And only then, at the very last stretch of the small intestine and nowhere else along it, is there a door the parcel fits.

Four handovers and one door. Which is why a shortage of this vitamin is so often not a shortage of food at all, but a fault somewhere along a relay — and why a therapy whose whole subject is the working of the digestive organs has something honest to say about it.

The Folic acid and Pure Folic acid formulas

One family, three strengths, and the hip that never comes down

The second formula was found from the other side of the body, and from a complaint that would not answer to a tablet.

How the folic acid formula was made

Many women used to come who often had pain on the right side of the waist.

On checking, it was seen that they had a great deal of pain at the Gas and Rt. Ov. points. Some of these women said that in their blood test a deficiency of folic acid had been found, for which they were taking a tablet, but the pain did not go.

Studying about it, it came to be known that folic acid is obtained from green leafy vegetables. But the matter will not be settled by eating that alone: for it to be made, the digestion and absorption of proteins in the food must happen properly. After that it is made, according to the body's requirement, by the bacteria of the ascending colon of the large intestine.

And in this therapy it has been found that by the treatment of Rt. Ov. we can provoke that part of the ascending colon.

From this the formula was made in this way —

Folic acid formula → (6) Gas Only (6) Gas 'I' (6) Rt.Ov.

Notice what the tablet could not do, because it is the whole argument. These women were already taking folic acid and the pain had not gone. Something between the mouth and the body was not working, and the formula is aimed at that something — three stations, and each of them has a stated job.

Read down that column and the formula is a single sentence about a supply line: break the protein, absorb what comes of it, and then let the bacteria at the far end do their work with the material. It is not a claim that hands make a vitamin. It is a claim about the three stages that stand between a plate of greens and a body that is the better for them.

Now the observation that sent the reading in a new direction, and it began with a face.

In some women a slight redness of the face was seen immediately after the treatment. To find out how and why this happened, deep study was made, and the following was found —

From a deficiency of folic acid, a deficiency of RBC's happens in the body.

The main place of production of RBC's is the ilia — that is, both parts of the pelvic bone.

When RBC's increase in the body, the skin looks more red — for example, when someone stays for some days in a hilly region for a holiday and then comes down, for some days they look fairer.

From all this the conviction was formed that this treatment either increases the production of folic acid or its absorption. This formula corrects the symptoms that have come from a deficiency of folic acid in the body, and so it was called the Folic acid formula.

The hill-station observation is the kind a person makes on holiday rather than in a laboratory, and it is worth keeping because a patient will understand it instantly. Go up where the air is thin and the body, short of oxygen, makes more red cells. Come down, and for some days you are carrying more of them than the plains require — and it shows in the face.

Now the second generation of the formula, and it came from putting five facts side by side and asking one question.

Later, from experience and practice, the facts obtained until then were examined —

➢ Folic acid and vitamin B₁₂ both together increase the maturity of RBC's. ➢ Those who have a deficiency of B₁₂ have a great deal of pain in the left waist, which is reduced by giving (8) Lt. Parkhoo — and by that treatment B₁₂ is provoked in the body. ➢ Folic acid is made by bacteria in the ascending colon. ➢ Those who have a deficiency of folic acid have a great deal of pain in the right waist. ➢ So why should it not be that if a treatment like Lt Parkhoo is done on the right side of the waist, folic acid would be made from it?

That treatment was given the name Rt. Parkhoo.

This is the moment the two halves of the article become one body. Two waists, two vitamins, two formulas — and the second point was not found on a patient at all. It was reasoned into existence by symmetry, and then tried. (Figure 34.2)

At first (8) Rt Parkhoo was given. After the treatment many people got very great benefit.

Then it was seen that those who had pain at the Rt Parkhoo point, after being given (2) Rt. Parkhoo × 6 treatments, got about as much benefit as they used to get from the whole Folic acid formula.

What Rt. Parkhoo was found to be worth

So it was understood that by (8) Rt Parkhoo we can make or provoke folic acid in the body.

Read the arithmetic of that middle sentence, because it is the argument. Two applications, six rounds — with the rest that Table 8, How a Formula Is Built sets between rounds of a point, one minute — did the work of three whole stations of thigh, calf and forearm. If one small thing can stand in for a large sequence, then that one small thing is where the sequence was doing its work. That is how the active element of a formula gets identified, and the same reasoning gave the family its next member.

Pure — this name because Rt. Parkhoo provokes or increases only folic acid, and not other things. Pure means pure.

That is the definition, and it is not the one students expect. Pure in this therapy is not strong and not concentrated. It means selective — one thing provoked and nothing else riding along with it. You will meet the same word used the same way twice more in this article, at Pure Genes and at Pure Folic Black, and in both places it means exactly this.

And there is the promise Each Point in Use made, kept. (8) Rt Parkhoo's own entry says it is used within the folic acid formula — and here is the formula it sits inside, in its place at the end, after the three digestive stations and not before them. A card that carries Rt Parkhoo on its own is not wrong, but it is not this.

At the ashram such a case of spina bifida came, in which, after giving this treatment for several months, it was seen that not only did all the patient's pain go, but in the X-ray something faint began to appear at the place of L5–S1, from which it seemed that some change or growth had come in the cartilage there.

From this we understand that this treatment undoubtedly makes folic acid in the body, or provokes its working.

Note that the conclusion is offered with its own or still attached — makes folic acid, or provokes its working — exactly as it was offered a little earlier, where the formula was said to increase the production of folic acid or its absorption. The therapy has twice declined to choose between the two, and this wiki does not choose for it.

Nowadays this treatment has been made still more mild, that is —

Look hard at what got smaller and what did not. The three digestive stations fall from six, six and six to one, one and two. Rt. Parkhoo stays at eight. The formula has not been weakened evenly; it has been stripped back to the element that was found to carry it, with the preparation reduced to a token. (Figure 34.1)

And read (1) Gas Only – 6 points correctly or you will give six times what is asked. The bracket is the number of descents — one. The "– 6 points" is the number of stations inside that one descent. They are two different numbers doing two different jobs, and Table 13, How a Formula Is Built separates them.

One family, three strengths, and the hip station is constant across all of them. That single observation tells you where this family believes its work is done.

Folic acid deficiency disorders

Two formulas, built point by point. The Vitamin B₁₂ formula and the Folic acid formula side by side, each station with the job it was chosen for printed beneath it; then the three folate generations on one rule, with the hip station constant across all three.

▫ Megaloblastic anaemia — in which the blood cells remain large in size, because of which they cannot get inside the capillaries.

▫ Spina bifida; meningo-myelocele; meningocele — these three are called neural tube defects, and in all of them it has been found that if in pregnancy the mother has a deficiency of folic acid, then these defects can occur in the child. Such children cannot control urine or motion properly.

The diseases that come because of a deficiency of folic acid

Besides these, the following two disorders also exist, in which too this same treatment will apply, but several months will be taken in getting right —

▫ Cleft lip or hare lip — that is, one whose upper lip is split from birth. Along with it there can be a problem in the nose as well.

▫ Cleft palate — that is, those whose upper palate is split from birth.

And in the following diseases too, pain has been found at the Folic acid point —

▫ Congenital heart disorders, that is heart diseases present from birth — such as a hole in the heart — under which come three diseases called ASD, VSD or PDA. All over the country many children have got well from the above treatment, without any operation, in ten to twelve months.

Read the last entry with the care its own wording asks for. It does not say these are diseases of folic acid deficiency. It says pain has been found at the folic acid point in children who have them — an observation about a body, not a claim about a cause — and then reports what followed when the treatment was given. That is a more careful sentence than the ones above it, and the difference is deliberate. Keep it. (Figure 34.3)

TAKE CARE

The one instruction in this article that cannot be given late

Every therapist who uses these formulas will meet women of childbearing age every week, and this is the most valuable thing you will ever say to one of them.

A woman who is planning a pregnancy, or who might become pregnant, should be taking folic acid daily — starting before she conceives, not after. A woman who has already had a pregnancy affected by one of these defects, or who has diabetes, or who is on medicine for fits, needs a larger dose and a doctor's advice about it. Ask; and if she is not taking it, tell her to start and to see a doctor.

The reason is the date. By the time a woman is lying on your mat knowing she is pregnant, the spine has already closed or already failed to. No course of treatment begun after a missed period can reach back to that week. Giving the formula as well is entirely reasonable. Giving it instead is not, and the person who would pay is a child with no say in the matter.

This is not a hedge and it is not an apology for the therapy. It is the same boundary The Hand That Heals draws: treat well, alongside, and send the patient to the person whose job the other half is.

Folate can quiet the blood while the nerves go on being harmed

This one belongs to the whole article, and it is the reason the two vitamins are never handled apart in these pages.

A shortage of folate and a shortage of B₁₂ make the same anaemia — the cells too large, the patient tired and pale. But only one of the two also protects the nerves. So if folate is supplied to somebody whose real shortage is B₁₂, the blood picture improves, the tiredness lifts, the patient feels better and looks better — and the harm to the nerves carries straight on, now without the anaemia that would have made anyone look for it.

The rule that follows is short: where anything folate-related is being given, ask about B₁₂ first — the tender left waist, the black knuckles, the feet that stay asleep, the tablets she is already swallowing on somebody's advice. And notice that this article's own construction already respects the rule: Black treatment, Pure Folic Black and Large Folic Black all carry both halves, and it is the plain Folic acid formula given alone, for months, in a patient nobody asked about B₁₂, that is the card to be careful with.

A CASE FROM PRACTICE

The girl whose fingers went blue, and the question that was asked of her mother

Name not recorded · a girl child · brought by her parents · came with a hole in the heart — on even the slightest fatigue, her fingers used to turn blue

What she came with. A hole in the heart, diagnosed and documented, with the sign her parents had learned to watch for: on even the slightest exertion her fingers turned blue.

The problem it posed. In the books it is not written about this disease which deficiency it comes from. There was no pain point to consult either — not on her. A small child, asked whether a place hurts, cannot say.

The new thought. It is written that if during pregnancy there is a deficiency of some vitamin in the mother, or some gland does not work properly, then from its effect some particular diseases can occur in the child. From that came this: during pregnancy, whichever vitamin the mother is deficient in, the child too will certainly have a deficiency of those same things.

And sixty years of practice had shown that during pregnancy women very often have a deficiency of folic acid or B₁₂ — and that such a deficiency shows as pain at particular points which had already been found and named. Small children, if their pain points are checked, will not be able to say whether it hurts or not — but their mother can speak about her own pain points, can she not?

What was examined, and on whom. The mother. And on checking, she had a very great deal of pain at the folic acid point.

What was given. The folic acid treatment — chosen by her findings and given to the child. Immediately after coming out from taking the treatment the girl said that she felt very good.

The course, and what was measured. Treatment for five to six months. After that it came in the sonography that the hole in her heart had reduced from 9 mm to 4 mm. Since then, all over the country, many such children are being made well by this treatment without any operation.

What this case teaches

The examination was performed on somebody who was not the patient. When the exposure happened before birth, the person carrying the history of it is the mother.

The finding chose the formula, and the finding was hers. Not the name of the child's disease — the tenderness at one point on one adult woman.

Somebody went and got the scan. A number, from a machine, that nobody in the room could influence, before and after. That is the strongest kind of record this therapy ever produces, and it is worth building the habit around.

Nothing else was stopped. A child with a documented cardiac lesion goes on being seen by the people who documented it, and the scan that measured the change is theirs. The Hand That Heals's boundary is not suspended because the result is good.

THE METHOD, STEP BY STEP

The method of enquiry in children's diseases

From that same time a new method of enquiry in children's diseases was brought out. Use it on every small child who comes to you, and use it before you decide anything.

1. Take the child's history in the ordinary way — what the parents have noticed, when it began, what has been done, what the reports say.

2. Then examine the mother. Not the child. Always check the mother's B₁₂ and folic acid pain points — the left waist and the right waist, side-lying, at both stations of the upper hip, exactly as taught in On the Side.

3. Read what you find as a statement about the pregnancy. If during pregnancy the mother had a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂ or folic acid, then treat the child for that same thing — because whichever vitamin she was short of, the child will have been short of it too.

4. Then, and only then, choose the child's formula — the B₁₂ formula for a tender left waist, the folic acid family for a tender right waist, the Black family for both. Left Right

5. Go on treating everything else the child needs as well. Only then will there be great progress in the child's treatment and the disease will get well quickly.

This is set down as a discovery of the first order — made to render the treatment of small children extremely effective and easy, and said to have made its most important contribution in making children of weak intellect well.

There is something in that method worth sitting with for a moment, quite apart from whether you accept every step of the reasoning. A therapist who cannot examine his patient examines the person who carried her. It is the same instinct that makes a paediatrician anywhere ask about the mother's pregnancy before asking anything about the child — and it was arrived at here from a completely different direction, by a man with two tender waists and no other way in.

The next group of formulas is set under a heading with two halves, and the two halves do not say quite the same thing. In English it is written Genes change formulas. In Hindi it is written genes के कार्यों को सुधारने के फौरमुले — formulas for improving the working of the genes.

The two waists. The right hip and the left hip as two different vitamins, two different formulas and two different pictures, with the two blades of the pelvis tinted and the folic acid and B₁₂ points marked where The Navel Speaks First's front chart puts them; beneath, the third answer when both waists are tender, and the count in which two equal one.

Keep both in front of you, because the second is the one the teaching itself keeps using: the function of spoiled genes too can be improved by this formula · this formula too can improve the functioning of spoiled genes · to correct which, the functions of the genes must be improved. The word that recurs is function.

THE WORDS WE USE

Gene · DNA · RNA — and the difference between a gene and what a gene is doing

A gene is a stretch of instruction written in a long molecule called DNA, which sits inside the nucleus of every cell. RNA is the working copy made from it — the note taken off the master instruction and carried out to where the work is done.

Now the distinction this whole section rests on, in ordinary words. Changing a gene means changing the instruction itself — the order of the letters. Changing what a gene is doing means changing how much of that instruction is being read and acted on while the letters stay exactly as they were.

Think of a workshop with a shelf of written instructions. Rewriting one of the sheets is a very rare and very serious thing. But which sheets are taken down and used today, and how often changes every hour of every day — with the weather, with what the workshop was sent that morning, with who is on shift. Every cell in your body carries the identical shelf; what makes one a liver cell and another a nerve cell is entirely which sheets are in use.

Eating changes it. Sleeping changes it. An infection changes it. And the two nutrients this article is built on are, as it happens, among the very few that supply the raw material the body uses to mark those sheets as read this or leave this one. That is the door this section is reaching for, and the therapy's own Hindi heading names it correctly: the working of the genes.

Where the tube does not close. Four schematic cross-sections of the lower back — closed, spina bifida, meningocele, meningo-myelocele — with the cord, the membranes and the bone of the arch keyed; then the two clefts, the L5–S1 observation from the ashram, and the one instruction in the article that cannot be given late.

FROM AYURVEDA AND YOGA

The green leaves, and who was told to eat them

The old dietary articles sorted food into groups, and the one they called shaka — the leaf vegetables — was given a particular place: cheap, cooling, to be eaten fresh and in season, and above all a food for the woman who is carrying a child. The regimen written for pregnancy month by month is one of the most detailed things in that literature, and green leaves, milk and ghee run through the whole of it.

Nobody knew why. They did not have the word folate and could not have had it. What they had was several centuries of watching which households produced healthy children and which did not — and the instruction that came out of it happens to point at the one nutrient whose shortage in the first weeks of a pregnancy leaves a permanent mark on a child.

A tradition that cannot name a vitamin can still notice, over centuries, which mothers thrive. Set that beside the sentence that opens this article's second formula — folic acid is obtained from green leafy vegetables — and the two are the same instruction, five hundred years apart.

DID YOU KNOW?

The week nobody is present for

The spine of an embryo is not built as a rod. It starts as a flat plate that rolls itself into a tube and zips shut — and the zipping is finished by about four weeks after conception, which is roughly five or six weeks counted the way a woman counts, and is very often before she knows she is pregnant at all.

Once that window shuts it does not open again. Which is why every health service on earth that has thought about this problem has arrived at the same strange-sounding instruction: the folic acid that matters is the folic acid taken before the pregnancy, not during it — and why some countries gave up advising women one at a time and simply put it into the flour.

It is the plainest example in medicine of a thing that must be done on a date nobody can identify in advance.

Black treatment, or Genes Formula No. 1

The folic formula, then the B₁₂ formula — never the other way

The first of the three came from a thought that anybody could have had about red cells, followed by one that nobody else did.

As has been said above — without folic acid and Vitamin B₁₂ the RBC's cannot become mature, and from that a deficiency of RBC's will come in the body. This much even any ordinary person could say.

But beyond this: the chief property of RBC's is to give red colour to the blood. That is, if RBC's are fewer, then in that person's blood the red colour will be less.

So could it not be that those whose colour is black are so precisely because of a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂ and folic acid?

Keeping this estimate in mind, the following formula was made —

Look at the shape of it before anything else. It is the Folic acid formula entire, followed by the Vitamin B₁₂ formula entire. Six stations, nothing new, nothing dropped — the two halves of this article given one after the other as a single treatment. And the order in which they are given is not a matter of convenience.

In this, the Folic acid formula has been given first and the Vitamin B₁₂ formula afterwards.

The Folic acid formula provokes the organs of the right side of the body, whereas (8) Lt Parkhoo provokes the intestines of the left side of the body.

If we were to give the Vitamin B₁₂ formula first and the Folic acid formula afterwards, the patient could get severe constipation. So keep this matter in mind.

That is printed as an instruction to be held in the mind, and it is one of the clearest illustrations in the formulary of How a Formula Is Built's second governing sentence: the sequence given in the formulae is to be followed exactly; a stimulation of the organs in a different sequence can sometimes produce opposite results. Not weaker. Opposite.

And the reason given is a reason about travel. Right side first, left side afterwards, so that normal peristalsis will remain. Content in the large bowel moves up the right, across, and down the left; a treatment that provokes the left before the right is asking the far end of a queue to move before the near end has.

Where the thalassaemia sentence must be read carefully

The treatment is extended to thalassaemia minor and major on a stated ground, and the ground is stated plainly: because in them, from various causes, there is a deficiency of haemoglobin. That is the reasoning, and it is printed as the reasoning.

What must travel with it is the standing boundary of this wiki, from The Hand That Heals and unaltered since. We use no medicine of any kind, and we do not tell a patient to stop theirs. A child with thalassaemia major lives on a transfusion programme and on the treatment that clears the iron those transfusions leave behind; missed appointments there are not a delay, they are the illness. Treat alongside. Never in place of. And do not let a good week become the reason a family skips a transfusion.

This is not a qualification invented for the occasion. It is the same sentence this therapy has said about every medicine since its first page, applied to the one condition in this article where the other treatment is keeping somebody alive.

A MISTAKE STUDENTS MAKE

Giving the B₁₂ half first, because the patient is already on her side

Here is how it actually happens, and it is never from carelessness. Lt Parkhoo and Rt Parkhoo are both side-lying. Gal and Liv are supine. A therapist working through a busy morning looks at six stations, sees that two of them share a position, and thinks — reasonably, tidily — let me do the side-lying work together and save turning her twice.

So he gives Gal, Liv, Lt Parkhoo, and then the three digestive stations. He has given the Vitamin B₁₂ formula first and the Folic acid formula afterwards, which is the one arrangement the teaching names and warns against: the patient could get severe constipation.

The general habit worth taking from this is bigger than the rule. Position is never a reason to reorder a formula. Turning a patient twice is a cost in minutes; reordering is a cost in effect, and the therapy's word for what a wrong order can produce is not less but opposite. If the turns are genuinely too much for a frail patient, the answer is a milder formula chosen for her, not the same formula rearranged.

Pure Genes Formula, or Genes formula No. 2

Two selective treatments joined — and used very seldom

The second of the three came from a frustration rather than from an observation, and the therapy says so.

Seeing the success of this therapy, patients of many diseases began to come, and it was seen that there were some old diseases in which our various treatments certainly gave the patients a little relief, but they did not become completely well.

So the thought came that perhaps the reason for this is that inside their cell there must be some disorder or defect, to correct which the functions of the genes must be improved.

And it had been read in some book that 1,25 DCC and Vitamin B₁₂ look after the functions of the genes inside the cell. From that fact the following formula was made, from which those patients got very great relief →

The first four points of this formula together make Pure 1,25 DCC. And Lt. Parkhoo provokes or increases only B₁₂, and not other things. Pure means pure. So the formula made by joining both together was given the name Pure Genes formula. It was discovered after the Black treatment formula, and so it is also called Genes Formula No. 2.

Two Pures, joined. That is the whole of the name, and it is exact in both halves. Pure 1,25 DCC is the vitamin D pathway provoked without its closing balance pair; Lt. Parkhoo is B₁₂ provoked without anything else riding along. Put the two selective things together and you have a formula that is selective twice over — which is precisely why it is so strong, and precisely why it is used so seldom.

The first four points are taught whole, with the vitamin D pathway they walk and the reason each one stands where it does, in Correcting the Two Kingdoms, "Correcting the Two Kingdoms". They are not re-derived here. What belongs here is the formula as it is given, and what it costs.

Bamboo spine, and what a fused spine will and will not take

Bamboo spine stands in this formula's own list of main diseases, and it is the one entry on that list that changes how your hands work rather than only which formula you choose.

In that condition the beads of the spine grow bridges between themselves until the column fuses into one piece. A spine in that state is not a strong spine. It has lost every joint it had to absorb movement with, and the bone itself becomes brittle, so that a force an ordinary back shrugs off can do real damage. This matters here because Liv° and Mu° are given high at the shoulder and (4) Para at the arm — but a patient with bamboo spine is very often being given spinal work on the same card as this formula.

So: no thrust, no forcing, no attempt to restore a movement that has fused. And any new neck pain, any change in the way the patient walks, any new clumsiness of the hands, is a finding that goes to a doctor today and not to the mat.

That line belongs in this article more than in any other. Everybody has seen a tired woman recover after somebody pressed her hip. Everybody has seen dark knuckles, and pale faces going pink after a fortnight in the hills, and children born with an open spine to mothers who ate no green thing all winter. The sentences in this article are not made of rare observations. They are made of ordinary ones, put beside each other by somebody who would not let them lie separately.

New Genes Formula, or Genes formula No. 3

A complaint women bear silently, and the formula built to take it out

The third of the three began, like the first, with women describing something they had decided was not worth describing.

Earlier, women used to come who used to pass excessive white water, which in English is called White discharge (WD). On checking the pain point it was seen that they had extreme pain in the part just below the navel. So that point was given the name WD.

Along with it, it was found that they also used to have a great deal of pain at the Pan point.

To take out these pains a new formula was made —

At first this formula was given the name "Pan – WD formula".

The point was named for the complaint, and the formula was named for the two pains it was built to take out. Nothing about genes was in anybody's mind when it was made. That came later, and it came from watching what else the formula did.

Two things in that construction are worth stopping on.

First, the opposite points. Pan lies above the navel; WD lies just below it. The formula deliberately takes both ends of one axis. Uncommon Problems, "Points for Uncommon Problems", teaches the Opposite Point idea whole; here it is doing its work inside a named formula, and the pairing is the first two steps of every version of it.

Second, the tail. (8) Ch. Only (20) ↑|↓ is not two more points; it is one of the four inseparable pairs, and it is here for the reason it is always here — to maintain the balance of acid and alkali. You met the same pair closing the 1,25 DCC formula in Correcting the Two Kingdoms, in the same counts and for the same stated purpose. The pair itself, in all its counts and proportions, belongs whole to Water and Salt, "Water and Salt".

By this treatment, in more than 90% of women the pain comes out immediately, and within one or two treatments the passing of white water stops completely.

When the coming of white water becomes very great it is called leucorrhoea. Women of practically all ages have this trouble, but they bear it silently.

What the formula did for the complaint it was made for

It has proved a wonderful treatment, which sets this trouble right very quickly — which is beyond belief. Only by trying it will the truth of our statement be known.

They bear it silently. Eight words, and they are the most useful clinical instruction in this section. A complaint that is never volunteered cannot be treated, and this one is never volunteered — not to a male therapist, not to a female one, not to a doctor, very often not to a sister. It is asked about, in plain words, in a room where nobody else is listening, at the end of a history rather than the start of it. And it is asked about of women of practically all ages, not only of young ones.

And note the last line, which is the therapy speaking about its own evidence: only by trying it will the truth of our statement be known. That stays exactly where it stands.

The other uses, and how the formula got its third name

From white water to the genes

▫ Over the past sixty years, while treating various diseases, it was seen that in practically all diseases connected with the genital organs there is pain in the part below the navel. So for correcting all of them this treatment is beneficial — that is, it is beneficial for all problems of the prostate gland and the uterus.

▫ Likewise, those who have tilt, or low back pain — pain in the lower part of the back — also get immediate benefit from this treatment.

▫ Many children with mongolism, that is Down Syndrome, used to come for treatment. Now the pain point of small children cannot be found out — so how should they be treated? First several treatments were given for correcting the stomach, from which benefit certainly came. Then, after much reflection, this thought came: that whatever trouble is present from birth must be from a disorder of the genital organs. And in this therapy, to correct a disorder of the genital organs we provoke the WD point. So — why should these children not be given the Pan – WD formula?

The treatment was given, and within a few days a considerable difference began to be seen. Even the bone of their nose, which had earlier been sunken, began to come out. And the yellowishness that used to be in the colour of the skin began to lessen.

From all these reasons the conclusion was reached that this formula too can improve the functioning of spoiled genes. Since there were already two Genes formulas, its name was kept New Genes formula, or Genes formula #3.

A CASE FROM PRACTICE

The child whose heel would not come down

Name not recorded · a small child · brought by his mother · came with the outer part of the foot turned inward from birth — talipes, that is club foot

What the trouble was. Sometimes a problem arises in some children that from birth the outer part of their foot remains turned inward. This is called a twisted foot, talipes or club foot. Such children often walk with the heel lifted — that is, their heel does not touch the ground and they can walk only on the ball of the foot.

The reasoning. Since the trouble is present from birth it is perhaps from a disorder of the genital organs — so why should they not also be given the New Genes formula? The perhaps is the therapy's own.

After the first treatment. The mother said there was certainly some difference, and what she noticed was not the foot. Earlier, when she held the child and made it walk, a good deal of strain used to come on her hand because of the child's weight; after the treatment she felt that now less weight was coming on her hand.

After three or four days. The child's heel was coming somewhat closer to the ground. Earlier its heel was three or four inches above the ground; now it came, at times, to within one and a half or two inches.

Over the months. The child's balance too had improved considerably. After about eight to nine months of treatment it was seen that the front part of its foot was becoming straight to a great extent. And within one and a half to two years its foot became completely all right.

What this case teaches

The first change was reported by the mother's hand, not by the child's foot. A carer who lifts and walks a child every day is holding a measuring instrument nobody else has. Ask her what has changed in her effort, not only in the child.

The measurements are the reason this account is worth anything. Three or four inches, then one and a half or two. Eight to nine months, then one and a half to two years. A case told in inches and months can be checked; a case told in adjectives cannot.

The timescale was stated at the outset and it is long. Say it to the family on day one, in those numbers, and nobody is measuring week three against a cure.

And say the other half too. A foot turned in from birth has an established orthopaedic treatment that works best when it is begun in the first weeks of life, with gentle serial correction and a brace afterwards — and the months this account describes are months of that window. The Hand That Heals's boundary decides what to do about that: treat alongside, never instead; keep every appointment; and let the people measuring the foot go on measuring it.

Then one more piece of reasoning was added, and it is offered as a perhaps.

Why Pan may belong in a genes formula

How is giving Pan useful — there is one more matter in this.

About the chemicals of the pancreas it had been read and written that pancreatic juice is used to break DNA and RNA. In diseases of gene disorder we have to improve the working of DNA and RNA. Perhaps this too will be another reason why and how this formula gives benefit in correcting the diseases of gene disorders.

The perhaps is the therapy's own and it stays. What is being offered is a second reason for a step that already had a first one — Pan is in this formula because the women who came with white water had a great deal of pain at the Pan point, and that is why it was put there. The DNA reasoning arrived afterwards, as an explanation, and is marked as one. Hold the observation firmly and the reasoning loosely.

The uses of the New Genes formula, and its three variants

And there is the second promise Each Point in Use made, kept. The WD entry says that for genetic diseases such as Down syndrome, or club foot, WD is given within the New Genes formula — and here is that formula, with WD standing second, immediately after Pan, opposite it across the navel. WD's own bar travels with it unchanged: it stimulates the genital organs, so perhaps it will also stimulate oestrogen — therefore do not give in cancer. The hedge is inside the prohibition, and the bar is drawn anyway, in the restrictive direction.

And one pair that is not in this formula but must be remembered near it. WD is the partner of P point — wherever P point is given, (6) WD follows it, always, with no condition attached. That is one of the four inseparable pairs of How a Formula Is Built, and it means a therapist meets (6) WD in two quite different places: as the second step of this formula, and as the compulsory tail of P point elsewhere. The same count in two roles. Know which one you are giving.

TAKE CARE

What Thymus + Chest brings into the third variant

The non-auto-immune variant ends with (8) Thymus+Chest, and the group carries standing rules that are inherited entire.

The requirement. If Th + Ch is written, the armpits must also be given, without fail.

The arithmetic. (8) is twenty-four rubs a side — three rubs count as one — and twenty-four is twice the twelve-rub ceiling, so it must be divided: twelve left, twelve right, then without giving any rest, twelve left and twelve right again. No pillow at all. Fire and Swelling, "Fire and Swelling", carries that arithmetic whole.

The prohibitions. Thymus and Thymus + Chest are not given: to pregnant women; in polio or inflammatory diseases; in heart disease; in diabetes; in rheumatoid arthritis and autoimmune disorder; and in kidney diseases, because almost all kidney diseases are autoimmune disorders.

Now read the variant's own selection line beside that list. It is written for pain below the navel in a patient who does not have diabetes and does not have any other auto-immune disorder — which is to say, the formula selects for itself precisely the patient in whom the thymus bar does not bite. The architecture is doing the safety work here, and it only does it for a therapist who knows which variant contains what.

TAKE CARE

Why the uncertain variant stops at L1–L5

The middle variant is written for the patient of whom it cannot be properly said whether there is an auto-immune disorder or not — and its Round arrow is confined: (20) ↑|↓ (L1–L5).

That confinement is not invented for this formula. In diabetes, the full Round arrow is held to provoke both the thymus and the adrenal, so that the patient may be harmed by one or the other; there, Round arrow is given only as far as L1–L5. The rule belongs to the point and is stated at the point. What this variant does is apply the diabetic rule to the patient who might be diabetic or auto-immune and whom nobody can yet classify — the restriction taken on because the classification is missing.

That is the therapy's own habit when a finding is uncertain: take the narrower option, and say why on the card.

Mild Genes

Every count down, nothing dropped, the order unchanged

The New Genes formula has a small form, and it has a name of its own because it is written as a named part inside a larger treatment.

Notice what was not done to make it mild. No step was dropped. No order was changed. No point was substituted. Every count came down and the shape stayed identical — which is the therapy's ordinary way of making a formula smaller, and the reason a mild version is still recognisably the formula it came from. Compare the three folate formulas in Table 6, where the same thing was done in the other direction: there the digestive preparation came down and the hip stayed at eight, because the hip was where the work was. Here nothing was singled out, so everything came down together.

Research went on, and the points already in hand were put into another order.

This too reduces pigmentation, that is blackness.

It is beneficial also for those patients who have pain in both sides of the waist, but in whose X-ray report of the back it is written NAD — that is, No abnormality detected, meaning everything is normal.

That second sentence describes a patient every therapist meets and few know what to do with. She has a real pain, in both waists, and a piece of paper that says there is nothing wrong with her back. The paper is not lying. It is answering a question about bone, and the finding is not in the bone. Reading the Reports, "Reading the Reports", makes the general point; this is the sharpest instance of it in the formulary. And notice how you must answer her: not your report is wrong, but your report has ruled out what it looks for, and what I find with my hands is tenderness at both hips, which is a different thing and has a treatment.

And notice why this one is called Pure. It has no digestive preparation at all — no Gas Only, no Gas 'I', no Rt. Ov. It is the two hip stations, which are the selective ones, with the B₁₂ pair between them. Four steps, and every one of them aimed at one of the two vitamins and at nothing else.

The word nowadays is the therapy's own and it means what it always means in this wiki: the older form is not an error and is not deleted. A card written before this change, showing four steps and no digestive preparation, is an earlier generation of the same formula. Table 13, How a Formula Is Built.

And look at what the digestive preparation is when it comes back. Not (6) (6) (6) — (1) (1) (2). It is the mild preparation of Pure Folic acid mild, word for word, put at the front of the largest sequence in the family. Seven stations, and the first three of them are a token.

The black stool that is not the treatment

Because Large Folic Black is the one treatment in this wiki after which a black stool is expected, a therapist who uses it must also be able to recognise the black stool that is an emergency — and the two do not look alike.

What is described after this treatment is the first one inch of an otherwise ordinary motion, the next morning, once, in a patient you knowingly treated.

What is not that is a whole motion that is black, tarry and foul-smelling, coming repeatedly, very often with weakness, breathlessness or faintness on standing. That is bleeding high in the digestive tract until a doctor says otherwise, and that patient is examined today rather than treated. Iron tablets and some stomach medicines also blacken the stool harmlessly, which is exactly why the judgement belongs to a doctor and not to a therapist.

The Black family, block by block. Black treatment, Pure Folic Black and Large Folic Black set out as the same four blocks in different combinations, so the block patterns can be read down the column; then the two formulas that differ by one word, and the black stool that is not the treatment.

Four blocks, and that is the whole family. The digestive preparation — Gas Only, Gas 'I', Rt. Ov. The right hip. The B₁₂ pair — Gal, Liv. The left hip. Which blocks are present, and at what strength, is the entire difference between the three names. Learn the blocks and you will never again have to memorise three sequences; you will read a name and assemble it. (Figure 34.4)

Tilt — choosing by where the pain is

Those whose waist is bent to one side — this is called Tilt.

Treatment is to be done according to their pain —

● If there is pain at the folic acid point, they are to be given the Folic acid formula. ● If there is pain at the B₁₂ point, they are to be given the Vitamin B₁₂ formula. ● If there is pain at both B₁₂ and folic acid, the Folic Black formula is to be given.

Three lines, and they are the method of this entire article in miniature. The name of the condition does not choose the formula. The tender hip does. Two patients walk in with the same bent waist and go home with different cards, because one of them was sore on the left and the other on the right — and a third, sore on both, goes home with a card that contains both halves.

And remember what else Tilt answers to. Pure Folic acid is written as very useful for patients of muscular dystrophy and of tilt; New Genes is written as giving immediate benefit in tilt and low back pain. Those are not competing claims to be reconciled; they are three different formulas, each named against tilt, and the pain points are what tell you which of them is in front of you today.

Choosing the formula from the pains around the navel

Now the table the whole article has been building toward. It is printed as it stands.

The fifth row stands exactly as it stands, and this wiki does not tidy it. Its Av. and its stray y; have no settled reading, and nothing is invented in their place. What can be said without inventing anything is that the row sits among five others that all use and and or in that position, and that its two point-lists — Gas with Folic acid, and Gas with Rt.Ov and Folic acid and thiamine — are the lists that select Pure Folic acid. If you meet that row on a card in somebody's handwriting, ask the person who wrote it. (Figure 34.5)

Two things in that table deserve to be said out loud.

Choosing by the pains around the navel. Table 13 printed as it stands, every row, with a chart of the points it names — Pan, Gas, Rt.Ov, WD, the folic acid point and the B₁₂ point on the front, Thia and Nia on a small view from behind — and the three Tilt lines set apart beneath.

First, the third row is the only one that is not a pain point. Cramps come, and pain at the B₁₂ point → Pure Genes. A cramp is a symptom the patient reports, not a tenderness you find; and it is exactly the symptom that (4) Para is in that formula for. Cramps mean a stretching in the muscles, and they often come in the calves from a deficiency of calcium — which is why the formula that opens with the parathyroid point is the one that answers them.

Second, the last row of the table is not the last instruction. Besides these, UDF treatment is to be given from time to time as required, and treatments for correcting the stomach and the digestion should also be given. None of these formulas is a whole treatment. They sit inside a plan that keeps the digestion going, and in a patient with undigested food coming, the undigested food is treated too.

Why the genes formulas must not be mixed from day to day

One normal treatment in, one out — or the result comes reversed

This is the precaution that governs the whole of of this article, and it was discovered the hard way. (Figure 34.6)

What was observed, and the reason arrived at

For correcting the disorders of the genes there are several different treatments which work in different diseases. Sometimes it was seen that after giving any one genes treatment, giving some other treatment the next day did not bring the results that used to come before. Sometimes even the opposite effects came.

After a great deal of reflection the reason was found, and it is this.

When we do any treatment, we understand that a change comes in the chemicals of the body, and it is because of that that the patient gets relief. When we give any Genes Change formula, then because of it a considerable change will come in the internal environment of the cells — that some chemicals will be less and some more, according to the body's need. And the effect of these can sometimes remain for many days.

When on the next day we give some other treatment, then the chemicals of that treatment and the chemicals made by the genes treatment will mix together, so that the results which were to come from that new treatment will not come in full, or will come in reverse.

TAKE CARE

The precaution that is necessary while giving any genes formula

If, after any treatment of this therapy, we need to give the Genes Change formula, then it is necessary first to give one normal treatment — NAN or FAN — so that the effect of the chemicals of the previously given treatment does not fall upon this Genes formula.

In the same way, after doing the Genes Change formula for some days, when we have to give a second treatment, then that second treatment should be given only after first giving one normal treatment.

The reason: when we give the normal — NAN or FAN — then whichever chemicals had become less or more because of any treatment will all become normal, that is, they will be in their ordinary quantity. After that, whatever new treatment we give will have its full effect, and it has been seen that doing it this way brings very good results.

Summary. These three are quite powerful, that is, effective, treatments. But if the disease is old, then before using them the stomach and intestines must be put right, and if UDF is coming, treating that is necessary.

One normal treatment on the way in. One normal treatment on the way out. That is the whole rule and it costs a single session at each end. NAN is the Normal formula followed by the Ajay Normal; FAN is the Fast treatment followed by the Ajay Normal. Both are taught whole in Setting the Stomach, "Setting the Stomach", and their closing instruction — the one that says what these two are for — is APR — Abdominal Pain's.

The three genes formulas. Black treatment, Pure Genes and New Genes side by side with the sequence each is built from, the order rule that protects the patient from severe constipation, the three variants and the mild form, and the shape of a course — one normal treatment before, one after.

And notice what the normal treatment is doing here, because it is not doing what it usually does. It is not being given for the patient's digestion. It is being given to bring the internal environment of the cells back to its ordinary quantities, so that what comes next lands on a body that has not been left somewhere by what came before. A treatment given as a reset rather than as a remedy — the only place in this wiki where a formula is prescribed for that reason.

An everyday picture. A cook tasting a second dish with the first still on his tongue does not taste the second dish; he tastes a mixture, and he will salt it wrongly. A mouthful of plain water between them is not part of either dish, and it is what makes the second one judgeable. That is the normal treatment's job here, and it is why skipping it does not merely reduce the next formula's effect — it can reverse it.

A MISTAKE STUDENTS MAKE

Running the genes formulas back to back because the patient is coming daily anyway

This mistake is made by enthusiastic therapists and never by lazy ones, and it looks like diligence all the way through.

A patient with an old, stubborn disease is doing well. You have given the Black treatment for a week and seen the pigmentation lift. You know there are two more genes formulas, and the patient is coming every day and is willing. So on Monday you give New Genes, on Tuesday Pure Genes, on Wednesday Black again — three powerful treatments in three days, each of which changes the internal environment of the cells and each of whose effect can remain for many days.

By Thursday nothing is working as it did, and the patient tells you so. The obvious conclusion — these formulas have stopped suiting her — is the wrong one. The formulas are landing on top of one another. The results which were to come from that new treatment will not come in full, or will come in reverse.

The right shape is the one the twenty-year-old's case below actually used: alternate days, one day on and one day off, the three formulas given turn by turn, and a normal formula between each one. Write the rule on the card next to the formula's name, so that you on a busy morning — or whoever sees her when you are away — does not have to remember it.

When to use the three genes formulas

Whenever any such disease comes which is very old, in it there is the possibility of a disorder of the genes — and in that disease the cure is to be made by these three formulas alone.

Read that with the Summary above it still in mind, because the two are one instruction. Very old disease → think of the genes. But if the disease is old, the stomach and the intestines must be put right first, and UDF must be treated. The three formulas are not the opening move. They are what is reached for when the ordinary work has been done properly and the patient still has not become completely well — which is exactly the situation that produced Pure Genes in the first place.

THE METHOD, STEP BY STEP

Running the three genes formulas as a course {{x3}}

Before you begin — the two things that come first.

Put the stomach and the intestines right. If the disease is old, this is not optional and it is not quick.

If UDF is coming, treat it. Clearing the Ash, "Clearing the Ash", has the family whole.

Then the course itself.

Give one normal treatment — NAN or FAN — before the first genes formula, so the chemicals of whatever you have been giving do not fall on it.

Give the genes formulas on alternate days — one day on, one day off.

Give the three turn by turn — Black treatment, Pure Genes, New Genes — choosing from Table 13 which of them this patient's pain points actually call for.

Give a normal formula between each one.

Go on giving UDF and the stomach and digestion treatments from time to time as required, alongside.

When the course ends and a second, different treatment is to be given — one normal treatment first, again.

A CASE FROM PRACTICE

The twenty-year-old who bled every day, and the number that finally moved

Name not recorded · 20 · unmarried · 2005 · came with continuous bleeding — from the day her menses began, every single day, for several years

What she came with. From the day her menses began, she bled continuously, every single day. It had been going on for several years. She had been shown to many doctors, and after spending thousands of rupees and having many tests done, it emerged that vitamin K is not made in her body, because of which the blood cannot clot at all. She was told her disease was called "Mild Factor VIII deficiency". The doctors said that the only remaining means of stopping the bleeding was that her uterus and ovaries should be removed. Think what must have passed over the parents of a twenty-year-old unmarried daughter on hearing this.

What was found on examination. Intense pain at her Mu° point, which we take to be a sign of acidosis.

What was given first — and it was not a genes formula. That day she was given ATF, by which the pain of her Mu° went. She was also told to drink water properly — because it has been found that one sign of acidosis is that the menses come for too many days, or in excessive quantity. The very next morning her mother telephoned to say that her menses had stopped that same night. Is this a thing to be believed?

What followed. After giving ATF for some days, when the pain of Mu° had gone, she was given treatments for ten to fifteen days to put the stomach and intestines right.

The swing the other way. When a month had passed and her menses did not come, her mother became anxious. Then it was seen that there was much pain in the organs of the right side of her body — that is, in Gal, Liv, Liv° and so on. From this it was understood that the alkali in her body had risen — one sign of which is that the menses come late or with scanty flow. To correct this, the Mild alkali treatment was given, and within a day or two her menses came. And the greatest thing is that this time the menses also stopped within four or five days.

What still had not moved. Then for many days she was given UDF and other treatments to put the stomach right. Her menses had come right. In spite of everything, her Factor VIII did not improve.

What was done then. We must give treatment to correct her genes. So she was given the treatment on alternate days — one day on, one day off — and in this way all three genes formulas were given turn by turn. In between each one, a normal formula (FAN) was given.

What changed. Within two or three months her Factor VIII began to rise. And after some further treatment her Factor VIII came up to 80. And three years later they said on the telephone that she had had no trouble with her menses or of any other kind.

What this case teaches

The genes formulas were the fifth thing tried, not the first. Acid, then the stomach, then the alkali swing, then UDF — and only when everything else had been done and the number on the report still had not moved did the genes formulas come out. That order is the method. Reversing it is not boldness.

The body was re-read at every stage, and it changed its mind twice. Mu° tender meant acidosis; a month later the right-sided organs were tender and that meant the alkali had risen. Two opposite findings in one patient in one course, each treated as it stood.

Two signs of acidosis and alkalosis in one case, and both are menstrual. Menses for too many days, or in excessive quantity → acid. Menses late, or scanty → alkali. A therapist who knows those two sentences has a reading of the two kingdoms that any woman can supply from memory.

The alternate-day shape, with a normal formula between each, is the precaution being kept rather than described. This is what the rule looks like when it is actually run.

The outcome that counts here is a number somebody else measured. Factor VIII, rising over two or three months, eventually to eighty, with three years of follow-up on the telephone. A case told with a laboratory value and a date can be checked by anybody.

And there is a sentence in this account that must be carried to the next such patient. A young woman offered removal of the uterus and ovaries for a bleeding disorder is a young woman who should be seen by a specialist in blood, and not only by us — because bleeding of that kind has treatments of its own. Treat alongside, write down what you find, and make sure the right person is still seeing her. That is The Hand That Heals's boundary, and it is not suspended by a good result.

Note stage 1 and stage 4 side by side, because together they are the argument the case was printed to make. The acid formula stopped a bleed that had run for years, overnight. And nothing that was given for the acid, the stomach, the alkali or the undigested food moved the laboratory value at all. The therapy is not claiming that everything improves everything. It is claiming that one particular class of problem answered to one particular class of formula, after four other classes had been tried and had done what they could do. That is a more careful claim than the story's own closing sentence sounds, and it is the one to take away.

Key teaching

A note added later, on oestrogen

Because of oestrogen's effect on the DNA of the chromosomes inside the cells, the work of changing DNA into RNA begins at once. Therefore in disorders of the genes oestrogen too should be stimulated — this is to be tried.

The last four words are the whole status of that note and they stay exactly where they stand. This is to be tried. It is not an instruction, it is not a formula, and no formula in this article has been altered on the strength of it. It is written down so that somebody who tries it knows that the thought was already had — which is the proper way to publish a thing you have not yet tested.

What it identifies, incidentally, is correct in its own terms: oestrogen belongs to the small class of messengers that do not stop at the outside of a cell but go in and act on the DNA directly, starting the making of RNA. That is the very machinery the whole of of this article has been reaching toward. And two of the points already in daily use here stimulate it — Rt. Ov. makes twenty per cent oestrogen, and WD perhaps stimulates it too, which is why both carry the same bar: not in cancer. Anybody minded to act on the oestrogen note should read those two bars first.

The question that went outside the body, and the Star formulas

One thread has been running under this whole article and is picked up in a later one. Every formula here was built by putting an observation beside a reading and asking whether the two were about the same thing — a tired mother and a textbook page about the ilia; a red face after a treatment and a holiday in the hills; a woman's white water and a child's sunken nose bone. (Figure 34.7)

The next question that was asked in that way is stranger than any of these, and it goes outside the body altogether. It begins with people who had pain in many joints, who had tried everything everywhere and been disappointed everywhere; who always had pain at the Gal point and whose stomachs were also bad; and for whom the ordinary digestive and circulation work brought real relief that never quite finished the pain — some getting a few days of it, some a few hours. And the thought that followed was that a disease which will not leave a person for many years might have its connection somewhere nobody had looked. That is where the Star formulas came from, and they belong whole to The Stiffening Joint, "The Stiffening Joint", together with the both-ring-fingers sign by which rheumatoid arthritis is recognised.

Why the grandmothers looked at the knuckles

There is an old household habit in north India of turning a person's hands over and looking at them — the palms for their colour, the nails for their moons, and the skin over the knuckles. Nobody who does it can tell you what they are looking for. It is done to brides, to new mothers, to children brought back from a term at a hostel, and to any relative who has come home looking thinner than before.

The classical physicians made a formal business of the same thing. Their examination of a patient began not with questions but with looking: the colour of the skin, the colour of the eye, the state of the tongue, the condition of the nails and the hair — a whole examination performed before a single word was exchanged, on the reasoning that a body that is short of something says so on its surface first.

Set that beside the two signs this article teaches — blackness over the knuckles, and a black tongue — and the old habit turns out to have been looking in exactly the right two places.

WHAT TO CARRY AWAY

A vitamin is a thing the body cannot build for itself. So read this family's own claims exactly as they are written: the B₁₂ formula is said to increase the absorption of Vitamin B₁₂ in the body, and the folic acid formula either the production of folic acid or its absorption. The therapy twice declines to choose, and this wiki does not choose for it.

The B₁₂ point is the left waist — the point in front of the femur bone on the left, the iliac fossa, tender in all those who had symptoms of B₁₂ deficiency. The folic acid point is the right waist. Both were found with the fingers, and both select a formula.

Vitamin B₁₂ formula → (3) Gal (7) Liv (8) Lt Parkhoo. The gall bladder first and the liver afterwards — first empty the godown, and afterwards send the new thing. The liver holds a stock of five to six years; the ilia are among the places where red cells are made after the age of twenty; B₁₂ is made by the bacteria of the intestine.

The deficiency picture. Blackness of the skin over the joints behind the fingers of both hands · pigmentation on the face · drop foot after paralysis · and the sitting test: after sitting cross-legged a long time the feet go to sleep and ordinarily come right within a few seconds, but if the feet stay asleep, a deficiency of B₁₂ has come into the body.

Only by both B₁₂ and folic acid being present do red cells obtain maturity. Without these two they cannot become mature — cannot be made ready.

Folic acid formula → (6) Gas Only (6) Gas 'I' (6) Rt.Ov. — Gas Only for HCl and pepsin so proteins digest; Gas 'I' so digestion and absorption happen properly; Rt. Ov. to provoke the ascending colon so the bacteria can work. Folic acid comes from green leafy vegetables — but the matter is not settled by eating them alone.

Pure Folic acid adds (8) Rt Parkhoo. Pure means selective, not stronger: Rt. Parkhoo provokes only folic acid and not other things. And (2) Rt. Parkhoo × 6 treatments was found to give about as much benefit as the whole Folic acid formula.

Pure Folic acid mild → (1) Gas Only – 6 points (1) Gas 'I' – 6 points (2) Rt.Ov. (8) Rt Parkhoo — the digestive preparation cut to a token, the hip unchanged at eight. The bracket is the number of descents; "– 6 points" is the number of stations.

Folic acid deficiency: megaloblastic anaemia · spina bifida, meningo-myelocele and meningocele — the neural tube defects, in which such children cannot control urine or motion properly · cleft lip and cleft palate, which take several months · and pain has been found at the folic acid point in congenital heart disorders — ASD, VSD, PDA — many children having got well without any operation, in ten to twelve months.

The method of enquiry in children's diseases. A small child cannot say whether a point hurts — but the mother can speak about her own pain points. Check the mother's B₁₂ and folic acid points, and treat the child for whatever she was short of in pregnancy.

Black treatment, Genes formula No. 1 — the whole Folic acid formula, then the whole B₁₂ formula: (6) Gas खाली (6) Gas 'I' (6) Rt.Ov (3) Gal (7) Liv (8) Lt Parkhoo. Folic first, so that normal peristalsis will remain; the other way round, the patient could get severe constipation. It finishes pigmentation, is given for pellagra and a black tongue, raises RBC's and haemoglobin, and is used in Minor and Major Thalassemia because of the haemoglobin deficiency in them.

Why these became "genes" formulas. B₁₂ and folic acid both affect the functions of DNA and RNA inside the cells, and genes are made of DNA and RNA. Given to children with Down Syndrome, considerable improvement came — from which the function of spoiled genes too can be improved.

Pure Genes, No. 2 — (7) Liv (4) Para (7) Liv° (7) Mu° (8) Lt Parkhoo. The first four are Pure 1,25 DCC; the fifth is pure B₁₂. 1,25 DCC and Vitamin B₁₂ look after the functions of the genes inside the cell. Main diseases: Down Syndrome, psoriasis, Bamboo spine. Very much strong; used only in genetic disorders.

New Genes, No. 3 — (8) Pan (6) WD (8) Ch. Only (20) ↑|↓, at first the Pan – WD formula. Pan and WD are exactly opposite each other across the navel; the chest and Round arrow are there to maintain the balance of acid and alkali. In more than 90% of women the pain comes out immediately, and within one or two treatments the passing of white water stops completely. Three variants: (6) Adr where there is an auto-immune disorder — the sign being pain on rubbing the little finger of the right foot; (20) ↑|↓ (L1–L5) where it cannot be said; (8) Thymus+Chest replacing the tail where there is no diabetes and no auto-immune disorder.

Mild Genes → (3) Pan (1) WD (2) Ch. Only (5) ↑|↓ — part V of the light Jeevan Dhara. Every count down, nothing dropped, the order unchanged.

Pure Folic Black → (8) Rt Parkhoo (3) Gal (7) Liv (8) Lt. Parkhoo — reduces pigmentation, and is for pain in both sides of the waist with an X-ray of the back reporting NAD. Large Folic Black → (1) Gas Only – 6 points (1) Gas 'I' – 6 points (2) Rt.Ov. (8) Rt. Parkhoo (3) Gal (7) Liv (8) Lt Parkhoo — the largest in the family, correcting diseases from a deficiency of B₁₂, niacin, folic acid and thiamine.

Tilt is chosen by the hip. Folic acid point → Folic acid formula. B₁₂ point → B₁₂ formula. Both → the Folic Black formula.

The precaution that governs all three genes formulas: one normal treatment (NAN or FAN) before, and one normal treatment after. Otherwise the chemicals mix and the results will not come in full, or will come in reverse. These three are powerful treatments — and if the disease is old, the stomach and intestines must be put right first, and UDF treated.

Whenever a disease is very old, there is the possibility of a disorder of the genes — and in that disease the cure is made by these three formulas alone, given turn by turn, on alternate days, with a normal formula between each.

Preserved as it stands: either increases the production of folic acid or its absorption · this treatment undoubtedly makes folic acid in the body, or provokes its working · perhaps it is from a disorder of the genital organs · perhaps this too will be another reason · only by trying it will the truth of our statement be known · and of oestrogen, this is to be tried.

Questions students ask

1. I am nineteen and this is the first article where I have felt cheated. You have told me a vitamin cannot be made by the body, and then taught me formulas named after vitamins. Which is it? Both, and the article does not hide it — which is why it is worth reading the therapy's own sentences rather than the names on the cards. The names are where the finding was made: a woman said she usually got that much benefit only from a B₁₂ injection, so the point was called the B₁₂ point. The claims are narrower than the names. "The absorption of Vitamin B₁₂ in the body increases." "Either increases the production of folic acid or its absorption." Whether a person absorbs and holds on to these things is a question about the stomach, the gut and the liver — which is where this therapy does most of its work. Say that sentence to a patient and you will never have to defend more than you have.

2. I am a retired schoolteacher learning this for my family. What should I actually look at on a person? Three things you can do in a minute, none of which needs equipment. Turn the hands over and look at the skin over the knuckles in daylight, against the skin between them. Look at the face for patches of darkening. And ask the person to sit cross-legged as they normally would, then stand — everybody's feet go to sleep, and an ordinary foot comes right in a few seconds. The finding is the foot that does not. After that, if you are able, feel both waists side-lying and see which one is sore.

3. A housewife here. My mother-in-law has had dark knuckles for twenty years. Does this mean she is deficient? It means it is worth asking about, and worth a cheap blood test, and nothing more than that until somebody has looked. Skin colour that a person has had all their life is one thing; a darkening that has come, over the knuckles and on the face, in somebody who is also tired, is another. Ask her daughter or her sister whether the hands have always looked like that. That one question separates the two better than anything you can do with your fingers.

4. Why is Gal given before Liv, and why does it matter so much? Because the gall bladder is the godown of the liver — the store where the bile is kept — and the instruction is one sentence long: first empty the godown, and afterwards send the new thing. A store that still has last year's stock in it does not take this year's well. And the order matters in this therapy generally for the reason How a Formula Is Built gives once and for all: a stimulation of the organs in a different sequence can sometimes produce opposite results, not merely weaker ones.

5. I am a doctor. The claim that pressure at the hip makes folic acid is not one I can accept. What am I meant to do with this article? Keep the layers in separate pockets, as the article itself mostly does. The observations: particular tenderness at the right and left iliac fossae, correlating over decades with particular clinical pictures; pain that came out within a few treatments; a face that reddened after treatment; a laboratory value that rose over two or three months in a case reported with dates. The proposed mechanisms: absorption, or production, or both — offered and not settled. And the therapy's own hedges, printed and not removed: *undoubtedly makes folic acid in the body, or provokes its working*. Hold the first layer firmly and the second loosely. And note that every claim here is cheap to test: serum B₁₂ and folate before and after a course costs less than one consultation.

6. I practise in a village where everyone is vegetarian and nobody has ever had a blood test. Is this article useful to me or useless? It is arguably more useful to you than to a city therapist, for the same reason it is more dangerous. More useful, because strict vegetarian households are exactly where this shortage lives, and you are looking at fifty of them a week and nobody else is looking at all. More dangerous, because you cannot confirm what you find. So do the two things you can do: give the treatment, and know where the nearest laboratory is and what one test costs, and send the clear cases. Knowing when to send somebody is a clinical skill, not a confession of poverty. See also → When the Hand Must Stop.

7. (8) Lt Parkhoo — is that eight presses or sixteen? Sixteen. Two equal one at Parkhoo: one press above the prominence of the thigh bone and one below it, worked alternately, make one of what the card asks for. So eight above and eight below. The convention belongs to the point and not to the therapist — do not carry it to a point that does not use it. On the Side, "On the Side."

8. What does Pure mean? I assumed it meant a stronger version. It means selective, and the article says so in as many words: Rt. Parkhoo provokes or increases only folic acid, and not other things. Pure means pure. So Pure Folic acid is the folic formula plus the one station that acts on folic acid and nothing else; Pure Folic Black is the family with the digestive preparation stripped away entirely; Pure Genes is two selective things joined. The side-effect of selectivity is that these formulas are strong and used sparingly — but strength is the consequence, not the meaning.

9. Why must I give a normal treatment before and after the genes formulas? It feels like a wasted session. Because a genes formula changes the internal environment of the cells — some chemicals less and some more — and the effect of these can sometimes remain for many days. Give something else on top of that and the two sets of chemicals mix, and the new treatment's results will not come in full, or will come in reverse. The normal treatment brings everything back to its ordinary quantity so that what you give next lands on a body you can read. It is not a wasted session; it is the session that makes the next one mean something.

10. All three genes formulas are written for Down syndrome. How do I choose? By the pain points, exactly as with everything else in this wiki — Table 13. Gas, Rt. Ov. and B₁₂ tender → Black treatment. All four, with folic acid as well → Large folic black. Cramps with the B₁₂ point tender → Pure Genes. WD, Pan or Gas tender → New Genes. And in a small child who cannot tell you where it hurts, you do not guess: you examine the mother.

11. The New Genes formula has three variants and I cannot keep them straight. The first two steps never change — (8) Pan (6) WD — so you only have to remember the tail. Auto-immune present (the sign is pain on rubbing the little finger of the right foot) → (8) Ch. Only (6) Adr. Cannot say → (8) Ch. Only (20) ↑|↓ (L1–L5). No diabetes, no auto-immune → the tail is replaced by (8) Thymus+Chest. Notice that the last one is the only variant that drops Ch. Only, and that it selects for exactly the patient in whom the thymus bar does not bite.

12. A patient of mine has both waists tender and an X-ray that says NAD. What do I tell her, and what do I give? Give Pure Folic Black — that is the formula written for precisely that combination. And tell her the truth in the right order: the X-ray has ruled out what an X-ray looks for, which is good news and worth having; what I find with my hands is tenderness at both hips, which that picture was never going to show; here is what I propose to do about it, and here is when we will look again. Never tell a patient her normal report is secretly abnormal. See also → Reading the Reports, "Reading the Reports".

Questions patients ask

1. "My report says my B₁₂ is low and the doctor has given injections. Then why am I here?" Keep the injections, exactly as he gave them — I will not ask you to change or skip one. The injection puts the vitamin into you. What I am working on is the part that decides how much of it your own body takes up and holds on to from your food: the stomach, the intestine and the liver. The two are not competing. If anything, they suit each other — and when your doctor next measures it, we will both find out something useful.

2. "My knuckles have gone black. Is it a skin disease? Will it go?" It may not be a skin disease at all. Darkening over the joints at the back of the fingers is one of the things we are taught to look at when somebody is short of this particular vitamin, and it is one of the things that can come back to normal when the shortage is put right. I would like you to have one blood test so that we know rather than guess — it is an ordinary test and it is not expensive. Meanwhile we will begin, and in two or three months we will look at your hands in daylight again and you can judge.

3. "I get this white discharge. I have had it for years. Everyone says it is normal for women." It is common, which is not the same word — and thank you for telling me, because most women do not. There is a treatment written specifically for this, and what is reported of it is that the pain goes at once in the great majority of women and the discharge stops within one or two treatments.
