B₁₂
Lay the patient on the right side and press on the left hip in the direction of the knees, and release immediately.
The difference between the Parkhoo treatment and this, in the laying down, is that the chest stays normal and the knees stay straight with the body — not near the chest.
| Patient's position | Lying on the right side; chest normal; knees straight with the body — not near the chest; a pillow between both thighs; a pillow under the head Side-lying Right |

The Vitamin B₁₂ formula
Three points, and an order that cannot be turned about
The story at the head of this article gave a place and a result. What turned it into a formula was twenty years of reading afterwards.
After the Gujarati woman said what she said, the estimate was formed that this treatment must be provoking the production of Vitamin B₁₂. Then the books were read, and the relation between the pains of the body and the symptoms of B₁₂ deficiency was observed patient after patient. And it was found that in all those who had symptoms of Vitamin B₁₂ deficiency there was extreme pain at the point in front of the femur bone on the left side. That part is called the iliac fossa.

Then two further facts were read and set beside it.
One. Among the places in which red blood cells are made in the body after the age of twenty is the ilia — that is, the bones of the pelvis.
How the B₁₂ point was found, and what was read to confirm it
Two. Vitamin B₁₂ is made by the bacteria of the intestine.
Therefore that painful point began to be called the B₁₂ point, whose treatment was done by the treatment named Left Parkhoo.
And then the last piece, which decided the other two steps of the formula: in the body, in the liver, there remains a stock of Vitamin B₁₂ of only five to six years, and the gall bladder is the godown of the liver where bile is kept.
From those four facts the formula assembles itself, and it assembles in one particular order.
The Vitamin B₁₂ formula, and the reason for its order
(3) Gal (7) Liv (8) Lt Parkhoo
In this formula the gall bladder was provoked first, and the liver afterwards — the meaning of which is just this: first empty the godown, and afterwards send the new thing.
That is one of the plainest pieces of reasoning anywhere in the formulary, and any householder understands it without being taught. A grain store with last year's stock still sitting at the back does not take this year's harvest well. You clear it out first, and then what comes in is what gets used. The gall bladder holds what the liver has put by; the liver holds the several-year store of the vitamin. Empty, then refill, then go to the place where the making happens. Reverse those and you are pouring new grain onto old.
Table 1 — Card: the Vitamin B₁₂ formula Supine Side-lying 6 sec Left Right ▲ Take care
| Written | Vitamin B₁₂ formula → (3) Gal (7) Liv (8) Lt Parkhoo |
|---|---|
| What it is for | To increase the absorption of Vitamin B₁₂ in the body, so that the symptoms that had come because of its deficiency begin to be wiped out. Giving this treatment to a weak person, the strength increases |
| Step 1 — (3) Gal | Supine, one pillow under both thighs. The therapist's right sole, soft mid-sole, on the patient's left thigh — three or four gapless stations from below the hip crease down to just above the knee, six seconds at each. One full descent = (1) Gal; three descents Supine Left 6 sec |
| Why it is first | The gall bladder is the godown of the liver. First empty the godown, and afterwards send the new thing |
| Step 2 — (7) Liv | The Liv – 3 points pass given twice — waist + elbow, mid-thigh + mid-arm, knee + wrist, six seconds at each paired station — and then once more at the middle station, the place between the hand and the thigh. Six applications, then a seventh Both sides |
| Why the liver | Because in the liver there remains a stock of Vitamin B₁₂ of only five to six years |
| Step 3 — (8) Lt Parkhoo | Side-lying on the right Side-lying , chest turned inward, knees very close to the chest, one or two pillows between both knees so the upper knee is not below waist level, a pillow under the head. Foot or hand, press and release alternately at both points of the left hip, at the edge of the femur bone. Two equal one — so (8) is sixteen presses, eight above and eight below Left |
| What that step is | The B₁₂ point — the iliac fossa on the left, tender in all those who had symptoms of B₁₂ deficiency. The ilia are among the places where red cells are made after the age of twenty |
| What it inherits | Gal — not in leukaemia, blood cancer or other diseases arising from a raised white cell count; not in asthma, where this point increases the trouble; not to those passing little urine. Liv — not in liver cancer. Lt. Parkhoo — no prohibition is printed for this point ▲ Take care |
| Points taught in | Gal and Liv — The Front of the Body I, "The Front of the Body — I"; Lt. Parkhoo — On the Side, "On the Side"; indications and prohibitions, point by point — Each Point in Use, "Each Point in Use" |
Two further findings belong to this formula and are stated with it.
What the two vitamins do together, and two signs that follow from their shortage
It is only by both Vitamin B₁₂ and folic acid being present that the red blood cells obtain maturity. Without these two vitamins RBC's cannot become mature — that is, cannot be made ready.
If there is a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂ in the body, blackness comes into the knuckles behind the fingers of both hands.
After paralysis, the foot remaining dropped — drop foot, that is, walking by dragging the foot — this too happens because of Vitamin B₁₂ deficiency.
The word doing the work in the first of those is maturity. Nothing is being said about how many red cells a marrow turns out; the claim is about whether they are finished. A cell that cannot finish itself is not a smaller cell — it is a larger one, still growing while it waits for a part that has not arrived.

Recognising vitamin B₁₂ deficiency
The knuckles, the face, the sitting test — and which waist is sore
This is the part of the article a therapist uses every single working day, because it is not a formula; it is a way of looking at somebody who has come about something else entirely.
If there is a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂:
The deficiency picture, exactly as it is taught
The skin over the joints behind the fingers of the hands becomes black.
Or pigmentation will come on the face as well.
Or, after sitting cross-legged for a fairly long time, sometimes the feet go to sleep — and they feel asleep immediately after getting up but come right again within a few seconds.
If, after sitting like this and then getting up, the feet stay asleep, then it should be understood that a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂ has come into the body.
Read the third and fourth of those together, because on their own each is useless and together they are a test. Everybody's feet go to sleep on the floor. That is not a finding; it is what happens to a leg folded under a body for twenty minutes, and a therapist who calls it a deficiency will be calling half of India deficient. The finding is in the recovery. Stand up, and within a few seconds an ordinary foot is a foot again. The foot that is still asleep a minute later has said something the first foot did not.
Table 2 — Card: the deficiency picture, as it presents on the mat
| What the patient says | "There is no strength in my body." · "I get tired just going to the market." · "My hands and feet go to sleep." · "I feel my hand is not my own." · "My mouth keeps getting ulcers." · Very often the patient says nothing at all about it, because she has been like this for years and no longer counts it as a complaint |
|---|---|
| What is seen — the hands | Blackness of the skin over the joints behind the fingers of both hands — the knuckles. Compare the two hands against the palm side in daylight, not under a tube light |
| What is seen — the face | Pigmentation on the face — darkening in patches, or a general dulling of the colour |
| What is seen — the walk | Drop foot after paralysis — the foot remaining dropped, that is, walking by dragging the foot |
| What is done — the sitting test | Have the patient sit cross-legged for a fairly long time and then stand. Ordinary: the feet feel asleep at once and come right again within a few seconds. The finding: the feet stay asleep — and that is read as a deficiency of Vitamin B₁₂ having come into the body |
| What is felt — the left waist | Extreme pain at the point in front of the femur bone on the left side — the iliac fossa, the B₁₂ point. Found with the patient side-lying on the right, at both stations of the left hip. This is the finding that selects the formula |
| What is felt — the right waist | Pain on the right side of the waist is the folic acid side of the same picture. Both waists tender is a third answer again — see the Black family below |
| What else Lt. Parkhoo is written against | To remove deficiency of vitamin B₁₂ and niacin — feeling fatigue; blackness between the joints of the fingers; numbness of the feet on sitting for a long time; anaemia; mouth ulcers; weaknesses of the nerves; weakness of the ear or the eye; fluttering of the eye. In paralysis, where the patient cannot lift the leg or feels weakness. Extremely useful in diseases of genetic disorder, and in diseases of metabolism — Each Point in Use |
