The Alkali Treatment Formula — and the question that must be answered first

UDF before ALTF: the alkali may only look raised because the acid fell

Cross the navel and everything reverses. Those who have the diseases or symptoms of alkalosis — if we check their Liv°, that is the point of the right kidney, it will be found that there is more pain in Liv°, and in them there is less pain in Mu°, that is the point of the left kidney. For such patients a formula was made which reduces the pains of the organs of the right side — that is, Gal, Liv, Liv°, Rt. Ov. and so on. Then it was seen that from it the symptoms of alkalosis come to an end, and therefore it was given the name Alkali Treatment Formula (ALTF).

If the article stopped there, ALTF would be the mirror of ATF and you would give it wherever Liv° was the tender point. It does not stop there, and what follows is the shrewdest single piece of reasoning in the formulary.

Why a patient's alkali may only appear to be raised

Then it occurred to Guruji that it may also be that the alkaline which appears increased in the patient is in reality normal. But because the quantity of acid in his stomach is less, his alkaline will appear greater even though it is normal.

How you catch it: on checking such people there is often pain in the Gas point as well, and on asking it will be found that undigested food comes in that patient's stool.

What that means: the flow of blood in his stomach is not sufficient, from which hydrochloric acid is not being made in the proper quantity, from which the proteins will not be digested properly.

So the finding at Liv° is real and the reading taken from it may still be wrong — not because the point lied, but because the other side of the balance has fallen. Correct the missing acid first, and see what is left.

That is a habit of mind worth more than any formula here. A quantity can look too big because the thing it is being compared with has got smaller. The therapy noticed it, gave it a test you can perform with your hands and one question, and then wrote a rule that forbids you to treat the sign until the artefact has been excluded.

Now the chain the therapy sets out for why the stomach's acid matters so much — because a student who has it can explain to a patient, in half a minute, why a therapist working on alkali is asking about his stools.

What the stomach's acid is for

When hydrochloric acid is made properly in the stomach, only then will the stomach's pH go to 3 or below.

At that very pH, pepsin will be made from pepsinogen in the stomach, which will digest some of the protein of the food.

Afterwards, in the duodenum and jejunum, the pancreas's enzymes trypsin and chymotrypsin, and the other enzymes of the intestines, will digest those proteins further — only after which those proteins will be fit to be absorbed in the ileum. And that digested matter, in which there are nutrients — nourishing elements — and electrolytes, is sent to the liver and to the other cells, to be of use to all the cells.

If hydrochloric acid is not made properly, then many hormones and enzymes of the body will not be made, and from that big diseases will certainly come.

And the second thing: because the stomach's acid goes from pH 3 down to 1, from being so strongly acid no virus and so on can stay alive. If acid is not made in the stomach in the right quantity, then bacteria or virus too will remain alive.

To correct UDF, the formula first used was this one.

Four things in that card are the whole of what this article needs from UDF, and each of them will be developed in Clearing the Ash.

Gas Only is compulsory and (10) Medulla is not. In every generation of the UDF formula ever made, whatever else was added for whatever kind of patient, Gas Only is there. And the one element that is withheld — in diabetes, in cancer — is the Medulla step. Learn the pair together: the mandatory element and the withheld element sit side by side in the shortest UDF formula there is.

The prohibition is the standing one. (10) Medulla is not given to patients of diabetes or of cancer; to heart patients only (10) Left Medulla is given. That caution was established with its reasoning in How a Formula Is Built and is inherited by every formula that contains the point — here, and in Chole, Vater, CCK Normal and Formula No. 4 in Setting the Stomach. It is applied, not re-argued.

The inseparable pair is visible in it. Gas Only is followed by Gas 'I' — and where the constipation is severe, (2) S4, S5 goes with the Gas 'I'. That pairing is one of the four established in How a Formula Is Built and it governs the UDF formulas as it governs the digestive ones.

And the diseases it is written for are not small. Undigested food has been found in the motion of almost all the patients of these diseases: fits, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, pain in the whole body, AIDS, idiopathic scoliosis, hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, lumps in the whole body, and so on. And all the patients of these diseases get immediate relief from the treatment of UDF.

TAKE CARE

Two names on that list that cannot wait, and two more that need a diagnosis

Cancer and AIDS appear in the list above. Say the rule plainly to yourself before you ever say it to a family. Neither diagnosis may be delayed, displaced or managed by anything in this wiki. HIV has treatment that turns it into a condition a person lives with for decades, and interrupting that treatment is catastrophic. A curable cancer treated late is often no longer a curable cancer. Supportive hands-on work alongside proper treatment is a reasonable and kind thing to offer; the same work instead of it is not.

Idiopathic scoliosis in a growing child is watched with X-rays and braced at defined stages, and the window in which the curve can be prevented from worsening closes when the child stops growing. Missing it cannot be undone.

"Lumps in the whole body" and "pain in the whole body" are descriptions, not diagnoses. A lump is something to be identified.

When ALTF is finally given

When, after giving the UDF formula for some days, the motion — that is the stool — begins to come properly and the pain of Gas goes away, if even then they have pain in several points such as Gal, Liv, Liv° and so on, only then is the ALTF formula to be given.

Read that sentence as four conditions and a gate, because that is how it must be used at the mat.

THE METHOD, STEP BY STEP

From the tender Liv° to ALTF — the staging over days

This is a sequence of decisions spread across a week or more, and it is the one thing in this article a table cannot carry, because its stages are separated by days rather than by seconds.

Stage 1 — the finding that starts it. Liv° tender, Mu° quiet or much less. Write both grades. This is not yet a reason to give ALTF.

Stage 2 — look for the artefact. Palpate Gas, and ask the question that goes with it: does anything come out in the stool looking as it went in? Seeds of tomato or bhindī; leaves of spinach, methī, dhaniyā, curry leaves; groundnut, gram, peas, corn coming out whole. If Gas is tender, or undigested food is coming, or both — the apparent alkali may be an artefact of a stomach that is not making its acid.

Stage 3 — give the UDF formula, for some days. Not one session. Some days, with the compulsory Gas Only, the withheld Medulla step where the patient is diabetic or has cancer, and the tail — the Fast treatment, then Mild Ajay Normal. The formulas of that family, generation by generation, are Clearing the Ash.

Stage 4 — the three things that must have changed. The stool begins to come properly. The pain of Gas goes away. And you re-examine, every day, as you did on the first day.

Stage 5 — the gate. If even then there is pain at several points such as Gal, Liv, Liv° — only then is ALTF given. If the right-sided points have gone quiet along with Gas, the patient is well and there is nothing to give. Many patients never reach stage 5, and that is the formula working, not the formula being skipped.

There are several forms of the ALTF formula, which benefit different kinds of patients. The one below gives benefit to almost everybody, and is especially very good for those patients who have more pain in the glands on the right side of the navel, while there is less pain in the glands on the left side of the navel.

ALTF, and the two findings that shorten it. The prerequisite as a gate at the top, with the reason a patient's alkali may only appear raised and the two things that catch it; then the subtractive ladder — the chief form and its two reduced forms, each removed step greyed and struck through rather than deleted.

The sentence that governs all three forms

Such different treatments were made because, if any organ has no need, then it should not be provoked. Provoke only when there is pain — otherwise not.

That is the plainest statement of this therapy's internal discipline anywhere in , and once you see it you will find it everywhere. It is the same principle as the bar on ATF where Mu° is quiet; the same principle as the day-by-day dose of the max. rule in Setting the Stomach; the same principle as the omission of Mu° in the coma case; and the same principle that produced these three cards instead of one.

The dose is set by the finding. A point that does not hurt is not treated.

Notice how little ALTF is. Five steps at counts of one and two, against the eight, three and six of the acid formula — a light treatment for the family the therapy itself calls the harder one to correct. That is not a contradiction; it is the same instinct as the light-treatment reform two sections back, arriving at a formula that was built light from the beginning. (Figure 28.4)

TAKE CARE

The last three rows of that table are where a therapist earns his reputation or loses it

A lump is a diagnosis to be made, not a pattern to be treated. A lump in the breast, the neck, the testicle or the belly needs to be identified by somebody who can identify it, and that is a matter of weeks, not months. Fibroids are a common and treatable cause of heavy bleeding, pressure and difficulty conceiving, and they are found easily.

Fits in a child are diagnosed and treated, and the treatment is taken every day. A child whose medicine is stopped or missed is in real danger, and that danger is not a matter of opinion. Treat alongside; never in place of; and never be the reason a tablet was skipped.

Stammering has skilled treatment of its own, and the earlier a child is seen the better it goes.

None of this makes the formula less useful. It makes the therapist more useful. Say out loud, in front of the family, which door you are sending them through and why — it is the single habit that most distinguishes a therapist people trust from one they merely like.

A CASE FROM PRACTICE

The schoolteacher whose alkali was never raised at all

A composite, assembled to teach the prerequisite rather than taken from one patient's file.

Sujata Rane · 44 · primary schoolteacher · Nashik · came with loose motions three times a day for two years, a nose that ran every morning, and blood pressure that had been called "borderline high" twice

What she said, in her own words. "Pet saaf hi nahin rehta — teen baar jaana padta hai, aur pет halka bhi nahin lagta." The stomach never feels clear; she has to go three times, and even then it does not feel light. She had been told she had a nervous stomach and had stopped mentioning it.

What was observed and palpated. Comfortable, thin, a little anxious about the blood pressure. Liv° on the right was tender at three plus; Mu° on the left was silent. The ring finger of the right hand was tender and the left was not. So far, a copybook alkali picture — and a therapist in a hurry would have written ALTF on the card in the first four minutes.

The finding that changed the plan. Gas was tender too. Asked the stool question in the words her household uses — does anything come out looking as it went in? — she answered at once and with some embarrassment: tomato seeds always; spinach leaves she could recognise; and chana she had stopped eating because it "came out whole". She had never thought to mention it because nobody had asked, and because it did not seem like an illness.

Which reports mattered. Her blood pressure readings mattered, and were taken again at rest, on two visits, before anything was said about them. A thyroid test mattered and was asked for, because scanty or altered periods, bowel change and tiredness together are worth one blood test; it came back normal, and that was written on the card as a thing checked rather than a thing assumed. An old ultrasound report of the abdomen changed nothing. A vitamin D result she was anxious about changed nothing about what was given, and was sent back to her physician.

What was chosen, and why. Not ALTF. The UDF formula — (10) Medulla (1) Gas Only – 6 points × 3 treatments, with the Fast treatment and Mild Ajay Normal as its tail — on the reasoning that her alkali might be normal and only appear raised because her stomach was not making acid. She was told that reasoning in four sentences, and she repeated it back better than most students do.

Session by session. Nine days. By the fourth day the morning nose had eased, which nobody had promised her. By the seventh, she was going twice instead of three times and the stool was holding together. By the ninth, Gas was quiet and she could no longer find anything recognisable in the pan.

The re-examination on the tenth day, which is the whole point of the case. Liv° was still tender — but at one plus, not three; Gal was tender; Rt. Ov. was not. So the gate opened, and what was given was not the chief form of ALTF but reduced form 1 — (1) Gal (1) Liv – 3 points (1) Rt.Ov (2) Rt. Ch. Only… and then corrected on the mat, because Rt. Ov. was silent: reduced form 2, (1) Gal (1) Liv – 3 points (2) Rt. Ch. Only × 3 treatments. Six applications. Three rounds, ninety seconds apart.

What went wrong because something was withheld. In the third week the loose motions came back for four days. Nothing in the plan explained it. It emerged — from her sister, not from her — that she had been taking a powder from a shop "for the stomach" throughout, on and off, and had taken it heavily that week because a wedding was coming. She had not counted it as medicine. The question that finds this is never what medicines do you take; it is what do you put in your mouth for your health?

What this case teaches

A tender Liv° is a finding, not a prescription. The prerequisite exists precisely for the patient whose alkali column fits perfectly.

The stool question is asked in the patient's own kitchen vocabulary, or it is not answered. Tomato seeds, spinach leaves, chana gets an answer; do you have undigested food in your stool gets a blank look.

The reduced forms are used, not admired. Two points were dropped from the chief form because two points did not hurt, and the therapy's own sentence governs it: if any organ has no need, then it should not be provoked.

Watch what improves before the thing you were aiming at. Her nose eased on the fourth day of a formula given for her stomach. That is the kind of observation from which this article's formulas were built in the first place.

A MISTAKE STUDENTS MAKE

Giving ALTF on the strength of a tender Liv°

A woman comes with loose motions, a running nose and periods that last a day and a half. Liv° is tender at three plus and Mu° is silent. Every row of the alkali column fits. The therapist gives ALTF, and it is a reasonable-looking decision made by somebody who has read the article attentively.

He has skipped the one rule in this article that is written as a prohibition. Even when there is pain in Liv° we should not give ALTF first. We should first give the UDF formula. Had he palpated Gas and asked the stool question, he might well have found the reason her alkali looked raised: a stomach not making its acid, protein not being digested, and food coming through her as it went in.

What he has then done is reduce the alkali of a patient whose alkali was normal — pushing her, exactly as the woman at Chandigarh was pushed, past the middle and into the opposite kingdom. And because ALTF is a light formula he may do it for a fortnight before anybody notices.

The order is the treatment. UDF first; re-examine; and only if even then the right-sided points still hurt, ALTF.
