Fluid or Alkali — फ्लूइड या ऐल्कली

In this, do just as in Acid, but lay the patient on the left side, and give it with the sole of your left foot on the side of their left thigh.

This reduces the symptoms of alkali in the blood. But this point has not been used so far.

In all these treatments a pillow is needed between both thighs.

Fluid and Alkali are two names for one point, and both are met on cards. Its symbol is the Acid stroke mirrored left to right — the mirror is the instruction.

Everything in Acid reverses, including the therapist's foot. Patient on the left; the left thigh; your left sole; the right shoulder turned outward. Mirror the Acid picture rather than memorising a second list, and check what students reliably get wrong in mirrors: the thigh worked is again the lower one, not the one parked on pillows. The pressure limit travels with the technique — just as in Acid carries the two or three seconds and the reason for them.

A therapy confident on every other page pauses here to record that one of its own points has never actually been given. That sentence is taught, not tidied away. It does not mean the point is forbidden or useless; it means the honest thing — the experience behind this one is not the experience behind Acid. Keep the habit in your own notes: mark what you have done a hundred times and what you have done once.

What lies beneath. Anatomically this is the Acid point on the other leg. The right for acid, left for alkali arrangement belongs to the therapy's own scheme of sidedness, taught with the two kidneys and the two columns of symptoms in The Two Kingdoms, "The Two Kingdoms"; the formulas using Fluid are in Correcting the Two Kingdoms. What is treated is the picture the therapy groups under that name — the swelling, the thin frequent stools, the watery nose, the pale urine.

A CASE FROM PRACTICE

The widow who had not mentioned the fall

A composite, assembled to teach the sequence rather than taken from one patient's file.

Kamlabai Shinde · 71 · widow, lives with her son's family · Latur · came with pain at the side of the right hip for five months, worse lying on that side at night

What she said. "It catches here" — the flat of her hand on the side of the hip, not the groin, not the back — "when I get up from sitting on the floor, and I cannot lie on this side at all now. My daughter-in-law says it is only my age."

What was observed and palpated. A very thin, light-boned woman walking with a dip to the right. Pressing at the side of the hip reproduced her pain exactly, at one spot and a little above it. Her back was not tender; lifting the straight leg sent nothing down it; the hip moved freely without the deep groin catch a worn joint gives.

Several findings read as one picture. Pain at the side, not the groin and not the back; worse on lying on it; reproduced by pressing there; the joint itself free — the picture of the tissue outside the hip, precisely the field these points work over. She had a plainly alkaline picture elsewhere.

Which reports mattered. She had none. What mattered was a question nobody had asked her.

The choice made, and why. She was set up for Rt. Parkhoo, and the setting up is where the first session went wrong: on a floor mat with one thin pillow between her knees, her upper knee sank below waist level within a minute, and the therapist worked with the foot — on a woman of that build, the wrong half of the instruction. She was sore for two days.

What was done when the first approach failed. The position was rebuilt before anything about the points was changed — two firm pillows between the knees, both knees drawn to the chest, the shoulder inclined in, a proper head pillow, and the hand instead of the foot. Rt. Parkhoo was given at both stations, counted in pairs, with Right Vitamin Formation added for what it says it is for — to take out the pain there. She could lie on that side by the third week.

What went wrong because something was withheld. In the fifth week she mentioned in passing that it had begun after she "slipped in the bathroom in the rains". She had not said so because her son would have been angry with her for washing clothes on a wet floor. A fall, in a thin woman of seventy-one with five months of hip pain, was sent for an X-ray that week. It showed no fracture and the work continued — but it was sent, and it would have been sent five months earlier had anybody asked.

What this case teaches

In very thin thighs the pillow between the knees is compulsory, and the hand replaces the foot. Both are written into the instructions; neither is a kindness.

When a treatment hurts more than it should, rebuild the position before you change the point.

Ask every older patient, in plain words, whether they have fallen — and ask it so it does not put them in trouble at home.

FROM AYURVEDA AND YOGA

Two kingdoms, older than the word alkali

Long before anybody measured anything in blood, Indian medicine was sorting people into opposing pictures and treating them in opposite directions: the dry, hot, tight, constipated body treated with oil, moisture and sweetness; the cold, wet, heavy, swollen body with dryness, warmth and bitterness. Give the second patient the first one's remedy and you were expected to make them worse — not merely to fail. Greek medicine arrived at something similar, and so did the Chinese: three traditions that had never met, arranging illness in two opposing columns and treating against the column.

Whether their columns match ours is a separate question, and this wiki does not claim they do. What deserves noticing is the shape of the idea — that the same complaint in two people can require opposite treatments, and that the therapist's first job is to decide which direction the patient is travelling in. It is why Acid and Fluid are mirrors rather than unrelated points.

That completes the treatments given lying on the side. The atlas turns the patient over once more, onto the front, where a new group begins with a positioning rule written before any point — again a compulsory one, concerning pillows under the chest and how the chin is to rest. That group holds Adr, Swt, the arrow family, Ku and the work along the spine.

WHAT TO CARRY AWAY

A pillow under the head in every one of these treatments — compulsory for neck pain or cervical spondylosis — and a pillow between both thighs in all of them.

Acid and Fluid: one or two pillows UNDER the bent knee, the upper knee not below waist level, the shoulder turned outward — because if it leans inward, the back of the thigh rises and they may feel more pain.

Parkhoo: one or two pillows BETWEEN both knees, the upper knee not below waist level — especially compulsory in very thin thighs — the shoulder well inclined toward the chest, both knees quite close to the chest, so it is easy to give at the edge of the femur bone.

Acid: right side, left shoulder somewhat outward, right leg straight and long, left leg bent over two or three pillows at waist level; the middle of your right sole on the right thigh, waist to knee — only 2–3 seconds.

Rt. Parkhoo: left side, chest turned inward, knees very close to the chest; foot or hand, alternately at both points of the right hip — once above and once below is (1) Rt Parkhoo, two equals one. Lt. Parkhoo: the same on the right side, at the left hip.

Folic — left side, right hip, toward the knees. Thia — left side, right hip, toward the head. B₁₂ — right side, left hip, toward the knees, releasing immediately. Nia — right side, left hip, toward the head, releasing immediately. In all four, chest normal, knees straight with the body, count 2, 4, 4 — twice; after ten seconds, four; after ten seconds again, four.

Right Vitamin Formation: left side, as for Folic/Thiamine, clockwise beside the ball of the femur bone on the right waist/hip, from below upward. Left Vitamin Formation: right side, as for B₁₂/Niacin, on the left waist/hip. Both given to take out the pain there.

Fluid or Alkali: just as in Acid, but on the left side, with the sole of your left foot on the side of their left thigh — but this point has not been used so far.

A point named for a vitamin does not supply the vitamin. What can be worked on is digestion and absorption.
