That completes the treatments given with the patient seated. The atlas now changes position again: the patient is laid on their side, and a new group begins with positioning rules of its own — a pillow under the head in every one of them, pillows at the knees that differ from point to point, and a rule about which way the shoulder is turned. Those rules, and the Acid, Parkhoo, Fluid and vitamin points that follow, are taught at the head of On the Side, "On the Side". (Figure 19.7)

One whole layer of everything here has been left out deliberately: what each point is used for, and when it must not be used. That is Each Point in Use, "Each Point in Use". WHAT TO CARRY AWAY

Seated I — Brain, Medulla, Neck's seated rules and The Front of the Body II's anterior-neck rule govern every point here. The face adds five: tell the patient before you touch it; pads, never nails; clear the face first; the steadying hand only steadies; the hair is a limit.

Brodmann's Area 17 & 18 Ghisai: the edge of the thumb on the back of the head, over the inner circle (17) and the circle outside it (18) — until the muscles under the skin relax, but no pulling and no damage comes to the hair. For the brain, the eyes and speech.

Hammering: a soft cotton cloth or towel on the forehead; a special hammer, or the fingertips or pads — never the nails; tap lightly at many closely spaced points all round the head; the ear is not struck. For speech, paralysis and other diseases of the brain — especially the left side of the forehead where speech is impaired, the whole forehead otherwise. Symbol: a circle with one dot at its upper edge.

Shivaji: palm on their own forehead, shoulder loose; the base of your palm, clockwise — (1) shoulder joint down the side of the chest to the lower shoulder bone, from in front; (2) lower edge of the scapula upward to the shoulder bone, from the side; (3) both sides of the spine, T6 to L3.

Bell's Palsy / Facial Point: both big thumbs one behind the other, pressing the tissue inward without scratching the skin, leaving no place empty — from the side that opens properly across to the other side, finishing up at the side behind the hair. Two symbols, arrows right and arrows left; the appropriate one goes on the card.

New weakness of one side of the face is assessed the same day, before anything is given. In a palsy of the nerve the forehead goes too; in a stroke it is usually spared. Note the time of onset; ask every session, can you close that eye?

Teeth Points are taught to the patient. Upper: above the ear — found by clenching — and below the eyes, then clockwise. Lower: below the chin and below the jaws. Same side as the pain, on and off through the day. Jaw Points: press and release near the mandibular bone, both cheeks.

(30) Lacrimal duct: thumb and second finger wrapped in a soft fine handkerchief, pressing inward and releasing beside the nose next to the upper eye — thirty times. Given alongside the eye doctor and the drops, never instead.

Sinus Point, one circuit in four stages from in front: nose → ears; up both sides of the nose; brows → outer corners, rotating there; then down and in to the side of the nose and out across the cheeks — without letting go of the muscles.

Satnam: from behind, forehead supported against your body; thumbs behind the forehead, fingers at the brow centre. Upward to the hair ×6; out along the brows to the temples, 6 clockwise + 6 anticlockwise without releasing; immediately temple → edge of the skull bone → cervical spine, set there, relaxing only then. Whole process ×3. Second form: forehead → temple → back of the head; neck kneaded 3–6 times; then left temple to mid-neck, then right.

Ear Points: left ear first, left hand steadying the forehead. 6 downward strokes behind the ear; 6 on the cheek near the ear-hole; the middle of the thumb presses the cartilage in front of the hole into the hole, pause, release; the first finger at the rim, 45°, inward and upward. Then the right ear. Nothing ever enters the canal.
