Whom the Kidney Clear formula is for — the two-key rule
A complaint from one list and a finding from the other — never one alone
The conjunctive indication
The Kidney clear treatment is to be given to those who have low back pain, left kidney stone, ringworm (dād), itch (khāj), allergy, psoriasis, or any other dry skin disease — and who have any one of the following:
those who have a normal or hard motion, or constipation;
those who have equal pain in Liv° – Mu°, or more pain in Mu° and less in Liv°;
those women whose menses come for four days or more;
those who have other signs of acidosis, such as pain in the left ring finger, and so on;
and those whose BP remains normal, or sometimes becomes low.
This formula especially gives benefit to those children who have micro head or micro-cephalus — that is, a child whose head is smaller than other children's in comparison with the body.
Note — if there is pain along with the stone, then in place of Ch. Only and ↑|↓, give Th + Ch.
Two things about that indication are worth learning as craft, not just as content.
First, it is conjunctive. A complaint from the first group and at least one item from the second. That is a two-key rule, and it is far more disciplined than a list of diseases. A patient with psoriasis does not thereby get Kidney Clear; a patient with psoriasis and a hard motion, or and more pain at Mu° than at Liv°, does.
Second, look at what the second group is made of. It is almost entirely findings, not complaints: the relative tenderness of two named points, the duration of the menstrual period, one specific finger, the blood pressure. You are being told to examine before you choose — and exactly what to examine.
