Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a long-lasting skin disease in which the immune system makes skin cells grow far too fast. They pile up as thick, red, itchy patches covered in silvery scales — most often on the elbows, knees, scalp and back — and the patches come and go in flares.

Two cut-away blocks of skin side by side: on the left healthy skin with a thin, even top layer; on the right a psoriasis patch with a thick, crowded top layer, silvery scales, enlarged blood vessels and immune cells
Inside a psoriasis patch. Left: healthy skin — new cells take about a month to rise to the surface and flake off unseen. Right: psoriasis — immune cells in the skin push new cells up in a few days, so they pile into a thick, red patch with silvery scales on top.
Quick facts
  • About 100 million people worldwide live with psoriasis
  • In psoriasis, skin cells are replaced in 3 to 4 days instead of up to 30 days
  • About 1 in 3 people with psoriasis also develop psoriatic arthritis
  • It most often starts between ages 15 and 20, with a second peak at 55 to 60

What is Psoriasis?

Your skin renews itself all the time. New cells form deep down, rise to the surface over about a month, and flake off without you noticing.

In psoriasis the immune system — the body's defence — becomes overactive in the skin. It pushes new cells up in a few days, so they pile into thick, red, scaly patches. Psoriasis is not catching. It often runs in families, lasts for years, and quietens and flares again. Some people also get painful, stiff joints (psoriatic arthritis), and the disease raises the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

What are the symptoms?

  • Thick, red, raised patches with silvery-white scales, with clear edges
  • Most often on the elbows, knees, scalp, lower back, palms or soles
  • Itching, soreness, or dry skin that cracks and may bleed
  • Pitted, thick or crumbly nails
  • Painful, swollen or stiff joints
  • Flares that come and go, often worse in winter or at stressful times

What causes it, and who is more likely to get it?

How is it found?

A doctor usually recognises psoriasis by looking at the skin, scalp and nails. Because it can look like other skin diseases, a small skin sample is sometimes checked.

Skin, scalp and nail examination

The doctor looks at where the patches are, how thick and scaly they are, and whether the nails are pitted.

Skin biopsy

A tiny piece of skin is taken after numbing and checked under a microscope, when the picture is not clear.

Joint check

If joints hurt or swell, the doctor checks for psoriatic arthritis, because early care protects the joints.

A neurotherapist asks about the stool before she asks about the cream — hard or loose, and whether undigested food comes in it. She presses Gal, Liv° and Mu°, compares the ring fingers, asks how many days the menses last, and checks the blood pressure. And she asks: has any doctor told you your body is attacking itself?

How Neurotherapy (LMNT) sees Psoriasis

In LMNT, psoriasis is read through digestion. Guruji's teaching places it among the dryness complaints of the acid side, where a body short of water shows it on the skin and the other organs that get rid of things. It also stands in the list of old diseases in which undigested food (UDF) is found. And it was seen that people with any skin problem had pain at Gal — the gall bladder point — and many also had constipation.

The skin chain, as Neurotherapy (LMNT) reads it

  1. Stomachif digestion is upset, the gall bladder cannot work properly
  2. Gall bladdershows the strain as pain at the Gal point
  3. Bilehas two chief qualities: antiseptic, protecting from germs, and laxative, keeping the bowel moving
  4. Bowelwithout enough bile, constipation follows
  5. Skinthe dry, scaly skin is the visible end of the chain

So there is no single psoriasis formula. The formula follows the body on the day: undigested food is dealt with first; pain on the right side (Gal, Liv) points to the New Gal formula; the acid side (Mu° more painful, the left ring finger, hard motion) points to Kidney Clear, ATF or New Star Modified. (2) Pan is added, which LMNT teaching says stops the skin from becoming hyper and stimulates the kidneys to throw out toxins.

Guruji says
We do not give treatment for any one disease; rather we treat according to the condition of the body on that day.

Neurotherapy (LMNT) treatment for Psoriasis, step by step

  1. Examine first

The therapist presses Gal, Liv° and Mu°, compares the ring fingers, asks about the stool, the menses and any immune diagnosis, and checks the blood pressure.

  2. Undigested food first

Most skin disorders come with loose stools and undigested food. Where the stool carries undigested food, the UDF treatment comes before anything aimed at the skin.

  3. Right-side pain: New Gal

Where Gal and Liv hurt, the New Gal formula is given — after the Vater formula, in that order: first the stomach, then the gall bladder. (1) Pt. Gal × 6 treatments also works the gall bladder station by station.

  4. Acid side: the two-key rule

Kidney Clear is given for psoriasis only with one more finding: hard motion or constipation, Mu° as painful as or more than Liv°, menses of four days or more, a sore left ring finger, or BP normal or low. It is started at the mildest grade and raised slowly. ATF needs strong pain at Mu°; New Star Modified follows its own ring-finger rule.

  5. (2) Pan — exactly six seconds

Given to stop the skin from becoming hyper and to stir the kidneys to throw out toxins. The count is exactly six seconds.

Points and formulas used

New Gal

Five formulas as one — first digestion and absorption, then the gall bladder — for skin disease with pain at Gal.

Kidney Clear

Works the two kidneys and balances acid and alkali — for dry skin disease on the acid side, given in four grades from mild upwards.

ATF, form (a)

The Acid Treatment Formula — helps the body lower its acid side; given only when Mu° is strongly painful.

General UDF formula

Helps the body digest what is now passing through undigested — given first when the stool carries undigested food.

Never do this

  • New Star Modified is never given where the pain is only in the RIGHT ring finger, nor where there is pain at Liv° and none at Mu°. ATF is never given without strong pain at Mu°. New Star Modified
  • (2) Pan is given for exactly six seconds, and never to children being treated to increase height. (2) Pan
  • Psoriasis counts as a disease where the immune system is already misbehaving: treatments that provoke the lymphocytes, such as VTF (Mild), are not given. VTF (Mild)
  • Gal is not given to a person who also has asthma. New Gal carries (10) Medulla, which is not given in diabetes or cancer. On Kidney Clear, the Th + Ch substitution is not made in kidney disease. Gal
  • Red, burning skin over most of the body, or widespread pus-filled spots with fever or chills, needs a doctor the same day. Painful, swollen joints need a doctor's check too.
  • Cancer: if the person has cancer, (10) Pan, Thymus, Pit, Lu + Sh, Rt. Ov / Lt. Ov and (30) Medulla are never given — the therapist changes the plan.
  • Keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed. Neurotherapy (LMNT) works alongside your medical care, never instead of it.

Note: the Acid Treatment formula is given only when the Mu° point is tender, and (6) Adr is not given in high BP, diabetes, cancer or HIV — the therapist checks first.

From practice

The tailor whose skin told the therapist which formula to give

A teaching case — a composite from practice, not one patient's file

44 years · psoriasis for eight years, and low back pain since her second child

What was found
Dry, silvery patches on both elbows and the hairline; hard motions every second day; menses of five days; BP always "on the low side"; clearly more pain at Mu° than at Liv°, and a sore left ring finger. Her ultrasound showed a small stone in the left kidney.
What was done
Every key pointed the same way — psoriasis, back pain and a left stone, with all five acid findings — so Kidney Clear was chosen, starting at the mildest grade and raised in the third and sixth weeks. On two days the stone hurt, but the Th + Ch substitution was not made, because it is barred in kidney disease.
What it teaches
In week nine she went backwards — weeping skin, loose motions, a period of a day and a half — and she had started a new tablet from a skin doctor without saying so. Examined again from the start, the findings had turned to the Liv° side, so the formula was turned over too, to Ulta Kidney Clear. The formula follows the body, not the name of the disease — and every tablet started elsewhere is something the therapist needs to know.

What research says

No clinical trial of Neurotherapy (LMNT) in psoriasis has been published yet. Improvements reported by neurotherapists are clinical observations.

For you

People with psoriasis in the family

It often runs in families. Dry, scaly, well-edged patches on the elbows, knees or scalp that keep coming back are worth showing to a doctor, not just treating with a cream from the shop.

People with psoriasis and diabetes, asthma or kidney stones

Psoriasis raises the risk of diabetes and heart disease — and these conditions also change which Neurotherapy (LMNT) points may be given. Tell the therapist about all of them.

Anyone starting a new skin medicine

A tablet or cream from the skin doctor can change what the therapist finds. Keep taking it as prescribed, and tell the therapist the day you start it.

This page explains; it does not diagnose. Neurotherapy (LMNT) works alongside your medical care — keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed, and see a doctor for any new or severe symptom.
