Three remarks, and this member is done.
The two-step order is the treatment. (2) Medulla, then the rubbing at the back of the skull. Not the rubbing on its own, and not the rubbing first. Where a card writes them together, they are one treatment in two moves.
× 6 treatments means rounds, not applications. Two applications, rest, again — six rounds in all, with one and a half minutes between them. A therapist who reads it as twelve applications run together has given something else entirely.
And the last line stands as written. Further research into this is continuing. It is not tidied here, and it is not to be tidied by any later article.
One word on the card needs explaining before you meet it on a patient. Ataxia means the movements have lost their aim. The strength is there; the intention is there; what has gone is the smooth steering between the two. A person with ataxia reaching for a glass will reach past it and correct, past it and correct, like a man trying to write in a moving bus. It is not weakness, and it is not the shaking that happens at rest.
