Abdominal Pain
Pain anywhere in the belly, from a dull ache around the navel to sharp cramps. Most of it is harmless and passes, but some belly pain is an emergency.

- Belly pain is behind 7–10% of all emergency department visits
- About 1 in 4 people sent home from the emergency department have no single clear cause found
- Pain from the organs themselves is dull, hard to point to, and felt along the middle of the belly

What is Abdominal Pain?
The belly holds the stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, intestines, kidneys and bladder. Pain can start in any of them, or in the belly wall.
Pain spread over most of the belly often comes from gas, indigestion or a stomach bug. Pain fixed in one spot may point to one organ, such as the appendix or gall bladder. Pain that comes in waves, starting and stopping suddenly, is often a stone.
What are the symptoms?
- A dull ache around the navel or across the middle of the belly
- Cramping pain with gas and bloating
- Pain in one spot that gets steadily worse
- Pain that comes in waves
- Poor appetite, tiredness or a heavy feeling after meals
What causes it, and who is more likely to get it?
Inflammation and ulcers
- Acidity and stomach ulcers
- Appendicitis
- Inflamed pancreas or gall bladder
Stones
Women's health
- Period cramps and ovulation pain
- Pregnancy outside the womb — an emergency
How is it found?
The doctor first asks where the pain is, how it started, and what came with it. That, with an examination, often says whether tests are needed at all.
Examination and questions
Where the pain is, whether it spreads, fever, vomiting, motions, urine, periods and possible pregnancy — and a gentle feel of the belly.
Blood, urine and stool tests
Look for infection, inflammation, bleeding, or problems of the liver, pancreas or kidneys.
Ultrasound, X-ray or CT scan
Show stones, blockages, swelling or fluid inside the belly.
Endoscopy or colonoscopy
A thin camera looks inside the stomach or bowel when needed.
The neurotherapist's first question is about your motions. Loose motions, or none at all? That one answer decides which formula can be given. Liv, Mu, Gal and Gas around the navel are then gently graded, and you will be asked about every tablet and every report.
How Neurotherapy sees Abdominal Pain
LMNT teaching reads belly pain as a sign that the organs are not getting enough blood. If there is no trouble with the motions, the bowel is moving correctly and must be left alone. The work is then only to bring blood to all the organs around the navel — and the pain comes out by itself.
Going round the navel — all four sides
- Above the navelGas Only and Gas 'I' — the stomach region
- Right and leftGal, Spl, Liv and Mu — always Gal before Spl and Liv before Mu
- Below the navelPan and WD, closed by Ch. Only and the Round arrow
- Behind the navelthe kidneys, through Liv° and Mu°
You do not have to know exactly where the pain is. You go round it. And nothing is reversed, because nothing needs to be slowed — this is only for belly pain without loose motions.
Whenever there is an obstruction or blockage in the blood circulation of any part of the body, then pain or numbness is felt in that part.
Neurotherapy treatment for Abdominal Pain, step by step
Examine first — ask about the motions
The therapist rules out the warning signs, asks whether there are loose motions, and grades Liv, Mu, Gal and Gas around the navel, with Liv° and Mu° at the back.
No loose motions: Jeevan Dhara, light version
Five short parts that bring blood above, beside, below and behind the navel. It replaced the older, heavier APR class C — LMNT teaching calls the light form lighter and more effective.
With loose motions: a different formula
Belly pain with loose motions is treated with APR class A or B, which first calms the inflammation. When the motions become fully normal, NAN or FAN is given for at least a day, and the examination starts again.
Pain that outlasts everything: Formula No. 4
For severe pain at Pan and around the navel that remains after the main treatments. It works through the vagus nerve, the pituitary and the spinal nerves, then Pan — about four minutes.
Small children and the elderly
Organ Clearance, which LMNT teaching says clears the way for blood to the organs beside the navel, may be given to small children and elderly people daily, or even twice a day.
Points and formulas used
Jeevan Dhara, light version
For belly pain without loose motions — brings blood to the organs on all sides of the navel. May be given at any age.

Open →Formula No. 4
For severe pain at Pan and around the navel that remains after other treatments — works on the nerves and glands that direct digestion.

- Jeevan Dhara (APR class C) is never given to someone with loose motions — the bowel pattern decides the formula, so the motions are asked about every day. Loose motions
- The light version's counts are part of the treatment. Do not bring back the heavy counts — more is a different treatment, not a stronger one, and it tires old and weak patients. Jeevan Dhara, light version
- (10) Medulla, the first step of Formula No. 4, is not given with diabetes, cancer or raised stomach acid; heart patients get (10) Left Medulla only. (10) Medulla
- With active belly pain, strong yoga practices such as Agnisāra and upside-down postures are not done.
- Go to a hospital at once — and no pressure on the belly until a doctor has seen you — for sudden, severe or sharp pain; a hard, rigid belly; vomiting blood, or blood or black colour in the stool; vomiting with no stool passing; pain after an injury; fever or yellow eyes with the pain; pain boring through to the back with vomiting; or a woman who could be pregnant with belly pain and fainting.
- Cancer: if the person has cancer, (10) Pan, Thymus, Pit, Lu + Sh, Rt. Ov / Lt. Ov and (30) Medulla are never given — the therapist changes the plan.
- Keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed. Neurotherapy works alongside your medical care, never instead of it.

A short Hindi demonstration of Organ Clearance: the patient lies face down on two pillows, and the therapist's open hands work over the whole back in overlapping strokes — first up and down, then side to side — twice each, leaving no area out.

From practice
The grandmother who had “nothing in particular”
A teaching case — a composite from practice, not one patient's file
71 years · retired schoolteacher · a vague ache across the belly, tiredness and poor sleep
- What was found
- Her motions were regular, once a day. Liv and Mu were tender, Gas mildly so; no hard lump and no sharp pain. Her old reports were read — none changed the choice. Belly pain with no loose motions: Jeevan Dhara.
- What was done
- In the first session the heavy version was given, and it left her tired and quiet for several minutes. From the second session the light version was used — less than a third of the applications — and she got up by herself. By the fourth session the ache had gone; by the sixth she was walking to the temple again.
- What it teaches
- The body answers a signal, not a load. In an old or tired body, more pressure is not a stronger treatment.

What research says
- Strong evidence
Pain from the belly organs travels on slow nerve fibres that enter the spinal cord on both sides at many levels. That is why it feels dull, is hard to place, and is felt along the middle of the belly. Belly pain causes 7–10% of emergency visits.

For you
Older adults
Short, light sessions suit you best. Belly pain in older age can hide serious illness, so tell your doctor about any new or lasting pain.
Women
Belly pain may come from the period or the ovaries. If you could be pregnant and have belly pain with dizziness or fainting, go to hospital at once.
Parents
Children get half the adult dose and light treatment only, given by a trained therapist. A child with belly pain and fever, vomiting or a swollen belly needs a doctor first.
This page explains; it does not diagnose. Neurotherapy works alongside your medical care — keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed, and see a doctor for any new or severe symptom.
