Leucorrhoea (white discharge)

Leucorrhoea means a heavy white or watery discharge from the vagina. Some discharge is normal and healthy. A large amount, or a change in colour, smell or feel, can mean an infection or another problem that needs checking.

Front view of the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix and birth canal, with mucus glands in the cervix, and two magnified circles comparing a healthy lining full of rod-shaped good bacteria and an imbalanced lining crowded with other germs
The womb and birth canal from the front. Glands in the cervix and the vaginal wall make a small amount of clear or white fluid that keeps the passage clean. Upper circle: a healthy lining, guarded by rod-shaped good bacteria (lactobacilli) that keep it slightly acidic. Lower circle: an imbalance — the good bacteria have fallen and other germs have grown, which can change the amount, colour and smell of the discharge.
Quick facts
  • Some discharge is normal — clear or white, with no bad smell
  • It naturally increases around ovulation, in pregnancy and with sexual arousal
  • Bacterial vaginosis, a common cause of abnormal discharge, affects about 23–29% of women of child-bearing age

What is Leucorrhoea (white discharge)?

Glands in the cervix and the walls of the vagina make a little fluid every day. It carries away old cells and germs and keeps the passage moist. Good bacteria called lactobacilli keep it slightly acidic, which stops harmful germs from growing. The amount and thickness change through the month.

When the discharge becomes heavy, people call it leucorrhoea or “white water”. Often it is still harmless. But a change in colour (yellow, grey or green), a fishy or bad smell, a thick curd-like look, itching, burning or pain usually means an infection or irritation. Many women bear it silently for years — it is worth asking about.

What are the symptoms?

  • Heavy white or watery discharge that wets the underwear
  • A change in colour — yellow, grey or green — or a thick, curd-like discharge
  • A bad or fishy smell
  • Itching, burning or soreness, or burning when passing urine
  • Pain below the navel or in the lower back

What causes it, and who is more likely to get it?

Natural changes

  • Ovulation in the middle of the cycle
  • Pregnancy
  • Birth control pills

Infections

Irritation and habits

  • Douching, sprays or strong soaps inside the vagina
  • A forgotten tampon or other object
  • Putting herbs or other products inside the vagina

How is it found?

The doctor asks about the colour, smell and amount of the discharge, itching or pain, your periods and any chance of infection, and then does a gentle internal examination.

Pelvic examination

The doctor looks at the vagina and cervix and checks for tenderness in the pelvis.

Swab and microscope test

A little discharge is taken on a swab and looked at under a microscope. Its acidity (pH) can also be checked — above 4.5 points towards bacterial vaginosis.

Culture and infection tests

Find the exact germ, including sexually transmitted infections.

Pap test

Checks the cells of the cervix for early changes.

A neurotherapist asks about white discharge in plain words, privately, at the end of the history — women rarely mention it themselves. If the discharge is coloured, smelly, itchy or bloodstained, or comes with pain, fever or bleeding, the doctor's examination and swab report come first.

How Neurotherapy sees Leucorrhoea (white discharge)

In LMNT the story begins with the women themselves. Those who passed a lot of white water were found to have strong pain at one place just below the navel — so that point was named WD, for White Discharge. They also had pain at the Pan point above the navel. Pan and WD lie exactly opposite each other across the navel, and the New Genes formula — first called the “Pan – WD formula” — takes both ends of that one line.

WD itself is given on the forearms, from elbow to wrist — not on the belly. In LMNT it reduces the pain below the navel and increases blood circulation in the genital organs. The formula closes with (8) Ch. Only and (20) Round Arrow to keep acid and alkali in balance. Some therapists in Punjab have also found that the Anil Sharma treatment, made by Guruji's old student Shri Anil Sharma, helps reduce white discharge — but only where there is pain at Mu°.

Neurotherapy treatment for Leucorrhoea (white discharge), step by step

  1. Examine first

The therapist checks the diagnostic points Liv° and Mu°, feels for pain at WD below the navel and at Pan above it, and asks for the doctor's report whenever the discharge has changed colour, smell or feel.

  2. (8) Pan and (6) WD

The first two steps of the New Genes formula: Pan on the thighs near the hip crease, then WD on both forearms at three places from elbow to wrist, six seconds each, with equal weight on both sides.

  3. Balance acid and alkali

    (8) Ch. Only and (20) Round Arrow close the formula — one of the pairs LMNT always gives together.

  4. Anil Sharma treatment — only with pain at Mu°

Used by some therapists in Punjab. It is not given if there is no pain at Mu°. After every four treatments, (4) Thymus + Chest takes the place of (6) Adr once, so that immunity does not fall.

  5. Not during the period

Treatment for other problems is not given during the menstrual period. A woman may come then only for bleeding that is very heavy, will not stop or is very scanty, or for pain or clots.

Never do this

  • Discharge that is bad-smelling, coloured, itchy or bloodstained, or that comes with pain, fever or bleeding, needs a doctor's examination and swab tests — not only treatment. See a doctor at once for bleeding after the menopause, bleeding between periods or after intercourse, or sudden severe pain on one side of the lower belly with faintness.
  • WD stimulates the genital organs and may raise oestrogen, so it is not given in cancer. WD
  • The Anil Sharma treatment is given only when there is pain at Mu°. Its points carry their own bars: not in high blood pressure (Adr, Pit), not in diabetes (Pit), and not in fits or schizophrenia (Pan). Anil Sharma treatment
  • Cancer: if the person has cancer, (10) Pan, Thymus, Pit, Lu + Sh, Rt. Ov / Lt. Ov and (30) Medulla are never given — the therapist changes the plan.
  • Keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed. Neurotherapy works alongside your medical care, never instead of it.

1. Which discharge is usually normal?

2. Where is the WD point given?

3. Which sign needs a doctor at once?

What research says

No clinical trial of Neurotherapy in leucorrhoea has been published yet. Improvements reported by neurotherapists are clinical observations.

For you

Every woman

Wear cotton underwear and loose clothes, and do not wash inside the vagina or put anything into it. A change in colour, smell or itch is worth showing to a doctor.

Pregnant women

More discharge is normal in pregnancy. But a smell, itch, colour change or any bleeding should be told to your doctor straight away.

Women after menopause and women with diabetes

Low oestrogen and high sugar both make infection and irritation more likely. Keep your sugar in control, and never ignore bleeding after the menopause.

This page explains; it does not diagnose. Neurotherapy works alongside your medical care — keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed, and see a doctor for any new or severe symptom.
