Frail and elderly patients (gentle care)
A frail, elderly or long-ill body has little strength in reserve. LMNT begins such a person gently — with Mild Kidney Clear, the smallest grade of the Kidney Clear formula, and the light versions of its longer treatments — and goes up only as the body allows.
- Frailty is not an unavoidable part of growing old
- About 1 in 10 people over 65 lives with frailty
- People with severe frailty have more than four times the yearly risk of hospital admission, care-home admission or death

What is Frail and elderly patients (gentle care)?
Doctors use the word frailty for a body that is less able to cope with, and recover from, an illness, a fall or any other stress. It builds up slowly, as many of the body's systems lose a little strength over the years, until a small thing — a minor infection, a new medicine — can cause a big setback.
Frailty is common in old age, but it is not only about age. A long, severe illness can leave a younger body in the same state. The good news is that it can be recognised early, and that exercise, good food and a careful review of health and medicines all help.
What are the symptoms?
- Weight loss without a clear reason
- Tiredness that has no obvious cause
- Weak muscles that make walking or getting up harder — for example, getting down onto the mat slowly, in stages
- Doing less and less — going out, walking or meeting people less
- Memory slipping, and small illnesses that take a long time to get over
What causes it, and who is more likely to get it?
What builds frailty
- Many body systems slowly losing strength over a lifetime
- A long or severe illness that has worn the body down
- Little activity, and poor appetite or poor food
What can tip a frail body over
- A minor infection, a fall or a stay in hospital
- A new medicine, or a change of medicine
- A treatment that is too heavy for the body on that day
The LMNT view
- In a long illness a gland may already be spoiled — LMNT teaching says it should first be provoked less, so that it slowly begins to work
How is it found?
There is no single test for frailty. Doctors look at the whole person — how they walk and manage day to day, their weight, their memory, their illnesses and their medicines.
Frailty score
A health team can grade a person as fit, mildly, moderately or severely frail, so that care can match the need.
Health and medicine review
A doctor or nurse goes through every illness and every medicine, and can refer to nursing, therapy or community services.
Kidney report
Blood creatinine shows how well the kidneys are working — it matters before any kidney treatment is chosen.
A neurotherapist examines Liv° and Mu°, watches how the person gets down onto the mat, reads the reports, and asks about kidney failure, kidney cancer and lung cancer — because some steps of Kidney Clear are barred in these.
How Neurotherapy sees Frail and elderly patients (gentle care)
Kidney Clear is LMNT's formula for the two kidneys. It comes in four grades, I to IV, and the grade is chosen by the patient's condition on that day. LMNT teaching is clear: begin low in the chronic, the elderly and the frail. Grade I is called Mild Kidney Clear — (1) Liv° (1) Mu° (2) Ch. Only (5) Round Arrow. It keeps the same four steps as the full grade, in the same order, with nothing dropped — only smaller.
Why the last two steps? LMNT teaching says that working Liv° and Mu° alone could trouble some patients, so Ch. Only and the Round Arrow follow to keep the acid–alkali balance — always in the same 2 : 5 proportion, at every grade. Mild Kidney Clear is also part of the light version of Jeevan Dhara, which LMNT uses for the elderly patient. The grade is raised only when the body shows it can take more.
We do not give treatment for any one disease; rather we treat according to the condition of the body on that day.
Neurotherapy treatment for Frail and elderly patients (gentle care), step by step
Examine first
The therapist checks Liv° and Mu°, reads the kidney report, watches how the person moves, and asks about every illness and medicine.
Doctor informed
The person's own doctor knows about the Neurotherapy, and every medicine carries on as prescribed.
Start at grade I — Mild Kidney Clear
(1) Liv° (1) Mu° (2) Ch. Only (5) Round Arrow — the smallest grade, with its balance steps kept in proportion.
Light, short sessions
Where a longer treatment is needed, its light version is chosen — such as the light Jeevan Dhara — so the session is shorter and the person can get up unaided.
Go up slowly
Grade II, III or IV of Kidney Clear only when the body shows it can take more — decided again on each day.
Points and formulas used
Mild Kidney Clear
Grade I of Kidney Clear — the gentle form for a frail, elderly or long-ill person.

- Gentle only: a frail or elderly person gets light treatment and shorter sessions, from a trained therapist, with their doctor informed.
- Liv° and Mu° are not stimulated in kidney failure or kidney cancer. Mu° is not given to someone who has pain only at Liv°. Mu°
- Ch. Only is not given in lung cancer. Ch. Only
- In a long-standing (chronic) illness, all the arrows are taken only as far as L1–L5 of the spine. Round Arrow
- If there is pain along with a kidney stone, Th + Ch is given in place of Ch. Only and the Round Arrow — and Th + Ch brings its own bars with it. Th + Ch
- Call 108/112 or go to hospital at once for fainting that does not pass quickly, chest pain, breathlessness, sudden confusion, sudden weakness or trouble speaking, or a fall with injury. See a doctor soon for very little urine or new swelling.
- Cancer: if the person has cancer, (10) Pan, Thymus, Pit, Lu + Sh, Rt. Ov / Lt. Ov and (30) Medulla are never given — the therapist changes the plan.
- Keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed. Neurotherapy works alongside your medical care, never instead of it.
From practice
The heavy version, then the light one
A teaching case — a composite from practice, not one patient's file
A woman of 71 · retired schoolteacher · brought by her daughter for "nothing in particular"
- What was found
- She had stopped walking to the temple, slept badly, had a thin appetite and a vague ache across the middle of her belly. Her motions were regular. Liv and Mu were tender, Gas mildly so. She walked slowly and got down onto the mat in stages. Her reports did not change the choice of formula.
- What was done
- Belly pain with no loose motions pointed to Jeevan Dhara. In the first session the therapist gave the heavy version, the one he knew best. It took a long time; afterwards she sat quiet for several minutes and needed help to leave. From the second session he gave the light version, ending with Mild Kidney Clear and Mild Genes — far fewer applications — and she got up unaided. By the fourth session she said the ache had gone; by the sixth her daughter reported that she had walked to the temple and back.
- What it teaches
- In a frail, elderly body the lighter version is the right one. Watch how the person gets down onto the mat — it tells you as much as the complaint does.

What research says
- Strong evidence
A major review explaining frailty: over a lifetime many body systems slowly lose their reserve, until a small stress — a minor infection, a new medicine — causes a large change in health. Frail older people are at higher risk of falls, disability and hospital stays, which is why care must be matched to how much the body can take.
No clinical trial of Neurotherapy in frail or elderly patients has been published yet. Improvements reported by neurotherapists are clinical observations.
For you
Families and carers
Come with the person, and tell the therapist about every medicine, recent fall, infection or hospital stay. Say so at once if they seem unwell after a session.
Older adults
Frailty is not a must with age. Keep moving every day, eat well, and have your health and medicines reviewed by your doctor.
People with a long illness
The same rule applies at any age: after years of illness, LMNT begins with the smallest grade and goes up slowly.
This page explains; it does not diagnose. Neurotherapy works alongside your medical care — keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed, and see a doctor for any new or severe symptom.
