Pneumonia in childhood (past history)
In LMNT, a person who had pneumonia as a child — whatever they come for now — may be given a three-part sequence called ADK. LMNT teaching holds that pneumonia leaves its effect on the kidneys as well as the lungs, so the therapist always asks about it.

What is Pneumonia in childhood (past history)?
Pneumonia is an infection of one or both lungs. The tiny air sacs fill with fluid or pus, so breathing becomes hard. It is usually caused by bacteria or viruses, and children under 2 and adults over 65 are most at risk.
Pneumonia is not only a lung illness. Doctors list kidney failure among its serious complications, and studies of people in hospital with pneumonia show that the kidneys are often strained. LMNT asks a question most treatments do not: did this person have pneumonia long ago — as a child, or before they were born, through their mother?
What are the symptoms?
- Pneumonia in childhood — remembered by the person or told by the family

- A child with slow development who once had pneumonia
- Today: cough with phlegm, fever and chills, fast or difficult breathing, or chest pain on breathing — these mean pneumonia now, and a doctor first
What causes it, and who is more likely to get it?
What causes pneumonia
- Bacteria — most often Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Hib in young children
- Viruses — such as RSV, the most common viral cause in children
- Food or fluid going down into the lungs
Who is more at risk
- Children under 2 and adults over 65
- Children not vaccinated, not breastfed, poorly nourished, or living with indoor smoke
- People with weak immunity, lung, heart, liver or kidney disease, or diabetes

How is it found?
Pneumonia today is found by a doctor. Pneumonia long ago leaves no test result — it is found by asking.
Chest X-ray
Shows whether there is pneumonia now, and how much of the lung it covers.
Pulse oximetry
A clip on the finger measures the oxygen in the blood.
Kidney tests
Blood creatinine and urea show how well the kidneys are clearing waste.
Whatever the complaint, the neurotherapist asks: did you have pneumonia as a child — or did your mother have it in, or just before, the pregnancy? Then Liv° and Mu°, the blood pressure and the kidney report are checked, because some parts of ADK are barred with high blood pressure, heart disease or kidney failure.
How Neurotherapy sees Pneumonia in childhood (past history)
For those who had pneumonia in childhood and come many years later, LMNT uses three treatments, always in this order — ADK. A is the Angiotensin #2 formula, (7) Liv (7) Mu° (6) Lu + Sh, given lying on the back; LMNT teaching says it also increases the flow of blood inside the kidney. D is (20) Medulla, for dopamine: twenty applications on both sides of the neck below the ears, the patient seated. K is the Kidney Clear treatment, at the grade the body will take that day — because pneumonia affects the kidney as well.
LMNT uses the same sequence more widely. Some children with slow development turn out to have had pneumonia; given alongside their other treatments, parents report a considerable difference. And a child whose mother had pneumonia during or just before the pregnancy is given ADK too, whatever the child came for — because, LMNT teaching says, what the mother lacked in pregnancy the child lacks as well. Whether these treatments could also help kidney function itself is a question LMNT marks as still to be tested.
Wherever there is a question mark, it is an indication that this is my own thinking, on which other people can now do research.

A demonstration of the Angiotensin No. 2 formula — (7) Liv, (7) Mu° and (6) Lu + Sh — for low blood pressure that comes on suddenly after very heavy bleeding in a period.
The video suggests using the formula at the moment of fainting. In LMNT teaching, a person who is still bleeding, cold, pale or fainting is taken to hospital first; this formula is for after the bleeding has been stopped. Lu + Sh is not given in cancer.

What research says
- Emerging evidence
Among 1,836 people in hospital with pneumonia, 631 developed sudden kidney injury — including many whose pneumonia was not severe — and they were more likely to die. Pneumonia can strain the kidneys, not only the lungs.
- Strong evidence
Angiotensin II is made in a chain: the liver releases its raw material, the kidneys release renin to start the change, and an enzyme found mostly in the blood vessels of the lungs completes it. Angiotensin II then tightens blood vessels and helps the body hold salt and water — the lung–liver–kidney link the ADK sequence is built around.
No clinical trial of Neurotherapy for the after-effects of childhood pneumonia has been published yet. Improvements reported by neurotherapists and parents are clinical observations.

Parents
Protect children with the full course of vaccines, breastfeeding for the first six months, good food and a smoke-free home. Tell the therapist if your child — or you, in pregnancy — ever had pneumonia. Treatment for children is half-dose and light.

People with high blood pressure or heart disease
Two parts of ADK — Lu + Sh and (20) Medulla — are barred for you, so the therapist changes the plan. Always say so.
