Four generations in a handful of years, each one a named answer to a named failure. Read the right-hand column downward and you are reading a record of what patients were still complaining of.

Two things are worth noticing about that column of reasons, because they are how this therapy grows.
Every change answered a patient, not an idea. Not one of these generations came from re-reading the theory. Each came from a group of people who were still not well, and each was aimed at the specific thing they still had — the Gal pain that survived, the navel that had never been set, the finger that hurt on the wrong side. (Figure 36.1)
And nothing was thrown away. The Old Star is still printed here beside the newest. That is deliberate, and it is the same habit that has old formulas standing beside their successors all through this wiki. A therapist with a patient who cannot lie prone for long, or a household being taught four steps to give at home, still needs the short form.
