Slow progress after UDF (HCl treatment)
UDF is LMNT's name for undigested food passing in the stool. When the UDF treatment has been given again and again and the patient is still not fully right, LMNT adds one thing: the HCl treatment, given 5 to 15 minutes after the UDF formula.
- Stomach acid (hydrochloric acid, HCl) helps break down protein, absorb nutrients and kill germs in food
- Normal stomach acid measures pH 1–2; when the stomach makes too little acid it reads about pH 3–5
- Low stomach acid is more likely after age 65 and with long use of acid-reducing medicines

What is Slow progress after UDF (HCl treatment)?
Digestion is a relay. The stomach starts it with its acid, which begins breaking protein down; the gut then finishes the work and absorbs what the body needs. When the body does not take in nutrients properly, doctors call it malabsorption — it can bring loose, bulky or fatty stools, gas and bloating, weight loss and weakness.
In LMNT, food that comes out undigested in the stool is called UDF, and the UDF treatment is given for it. This page is about one situation only: the UDF treatment has been given many times and the person is better, but not fully right.
What are the symptoms?
- Undigested food still seen in the stool after repeated UDF treatment
- Bloating, gas, loose motions or constipation after meals
- Tiredness and weakness that do not lift
- Brittle nails, hair fall or tingling in the hands and feet
- Weight loss without trying
What causes it, and who is more likely to get it?
Causes of low stomach acid
- Long-lasting inflammation of the stomach lining (atrophic gastritis)
- H. pylori infection of the stomach
- Long use of acid-reducing medicines, older age, long-term stress, or stomach surgery
Other causes of poor absorption
- Gut diseases such as coeliac disease or Crohn's disease
- Pancreas problems, such as pancreatitis
- Liver disease, some medicines, or intolerance to some foods
How is it found?
When digestion stays poor, a doctor looks for the cause. These are some of the tests used.
Stool tests
Check the stool for fat and for infection.
Blood tests
Look for signs of poor nutrition and for the diseases that can cause it.
Breath test
A hydrogen breath test can show whether some foods are not being absorbed.
Stomach acid tests
Special tests, such as a swallowed pH capsule or a string test, measure how acidic the stomach is.
The neurotherapist examines Liv° and Mu°, asks about the stool, and checks how many UDF treatments have already been given before deciding to add the HCl treatment.
How Neurotherapy sees Slow progress after UDF (HCl treatment)
LMNT's answer to slow progress after UDF is not to give UDF harder or more often. It is to add the HCl treatment — named after hydrochloric acid, the stomach's own acid, and used in LMNT for digestion, especially of protein. It is given 5 to 15 minutes after the UDF formula.
LMNT teaching is firm about the gap: the wait is the instruction, not a convenience. The HCl treatment is not given straight after UDF, and it is not given instead of UDF — it follows it, after the pause.
It is not enough that one eats protein. The thing that matters is that it is digested.
Neurotherapy treatment for Slow progress after UDF (HCl treatment), step by step
Examine first
Liv° and Mu° are checked, and the therapist asks about the stool and the UDF treatments already given.
The UDF formula, as before
The UDF treatment is given in the usual way.
Wait 5 to 15 minutes
The pause is part of the treatment. The patient rests; nothing else is given in between.
The HCl treatment
Then the HCl treatment is given, to support digestion — especially of protein.
Points and formulas used
HCl treatment formula
Given 5 to 15 minutes after the UDF formula, when UDF has been given again and again and is still not fully right — to support digestion, especially of protein.

- See a doctor soon for weight loss without trying, blood in the stool or black stools, repeated vomiting, trouble swallowing, or severe or constant belly pain. Poor digestion that does not improve needs a medical check for its cause.
- Keep the gap: the HCl treatment comes 5 to 15 minutes after the UDF formula — not straight after it, and not in its place. HCl treatment formula
- Check Mu° against Liv° before every treatment: never ATF in alkalosis, never ALTF in acidosis. Alkalosis
- Cancer: if the person has cancer, (10) Pan, Thymus, Pit, Lu + Sh, Rt. Ov / Lt. Ov and (30) Medulla are never given — the therapist changes the plan.
- Keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed — including any for acidity; ask your doctor before changing them. Neurotherapy works alongside your medical care, never instead of it.

What research says
- Strong evidence
A medical reference on what happens when the stomach makes little or no acid. Hydrochloric acid is central to digestion and protects against germs in food; without enough of it, people can become short of iron, vitamin B12, calcium and vitamin D, and germs can overgrow in the small intestine.

No clinical trial of Neurotherapy for undigested food or slow digestion has been published yet. Improvements reported by neurotherapists are clinical observations.
For you
Patients
Tell the therapist what you see in the stool and how you feel after meals. If the wait feels long, remember it is part of the treatment.
Older adults
Low stomach acid is more common after 65 and with long use of acid-reducing medicines. Ask your doctor to review them — do not stop them yourself.
Learners
Do not answer slow progress by repeating UDF harder. Keep the UDF formula, keep the 5 to 15 minute gap, then give HCl.
