Five rules for the order of points in a formula

Points in a Neurotherapy (LMNT) formula cannot be given in any order one likes. Five rules guide the order, so the formula follows the body's own rhythm and leaves it balanced.

Overview

A formula follows the direction the bowel already moves, and ends in balance.

Can any point be given in any order? Neurotherapy (LMNT) answers no. The organs cannot be roused in an order of our own choosing, and five general rules guide how a formula is put together.

Rule one: points that face each other across the navel are given as partners, one right after the other. Right is answered by left, as with Gal and Spl, or Liv and Mu, and above is answered by below. Rule two: a point that reduces alkali comes before a point that reduces acid.

Rule three: at the end, the acid-alkali balance is kept, using Chest Only and Round Arrow together. Rule four: a formula may work against the bowel's natural wave, called peristalsis, only for a short time and for a particular problem, such as loose motions; then the Normal formula brings the body back.

Rule five: with experience, a therapist may arrange a new order or even a new formula, but it must still move in the direction the bowel moves. The proof is the Normal and Ulta Normal pair: the same points in two orders treat opposite complaints, constipation and loose motions.

Sometimes the best order would mean turning a patient over and back. A shorter route is then allowed for comfort, and its small cost is written on the card. The exact sequences are taught hands-on in the Neurotherapy (LMNT) course.

Key points

  • Opposite points around the navel are given as partners.
  • The alkali-reducing point comes before the acid-reducing point.
  • A formula ends with the acid-alkali balance.
  • Going against the bowel's wave is only for a short course, then Normal follows.
  • Any new order must still follow the bowel's natural direction.

Safety: when it is held back

  • Changing the order of the Normal formula by mistake can cause severe constipation. Normal Treatment Formula
  • A reversed formula such as Ulta Normal is stopped as soon as the stool is well formed; continued longer it causes constipation. Ulta Normal

A demonstration of the Ulta Normal formula for loose motions: (8) Pan on both thighs, then Spl before Gal and Mu before Liv — the Normal formula's order reversed to slow the bowel.

The video's counts ((3) Spl, (3) Gal, (5) Mu, (7) Liv) differ from LMNT teaching, which gives (1) Spl, (1) Gal, (1) Mu – 3 points and (1) Liv – 3 points. Ulta Normal is stopped as soon as the stool is formed, and the Normal formula is given for at least one day.
