Wrinkles

Wrinkles are lines and creases in the skin. They come to everyone with age, but sun, smoking and dry skin bring them earlier and deeper.

Two blocks of skin in cross-section side by side: young skin with a thick layer of dense, springy collagen and elastin fibres and a smooth surface, and ageing skin with thinner, broken fibres, less fat and a surface folded into a wrinkle
Skin, cut open to show its layers. Left: young skin — a thick middle layer packed with springy collagen and elastin fibres, plenty of oil and a smooth surface. Right: ageing, sun-damaged skin — the fibres are thinner and broken, there is less fat and oil, and the surface sinks into a wrinkle.
Quick facts
  • Everyone who ages gets wrinkles — they are a normal part of growing older
  • Sunlight breaks down the collagen and elastin fibres that keep skin firm
  • Doctors advise a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or more every day, put on again every 2 hours outdoors

What is Wrinkles?

The middle layer of your skin is full of two kinds of fibres: collagen, which makes skin strong, and elastin, which lets it spring back. Under them is a cushion of fat, and small glands keep the surface oiled and moist.

With age, the body makes less collagen, the skin gets thinner and drier, and it holds less fat and oil. Sun and smoke break the fibres faster. Then the lines made by smiling, frowning and squinting stop springing back, and stay as wrinkles — on the face, neck and hands most of all.

What are the symptoms?

  • Fine lines around the eyes and mouth
  • Deeper creases on the forehead and between the eyebrows
  • Lines and loose skin on the neck and the backs of the hands
  • Dry, rough or thin-feeling skin

What causes it, and who is more likely to get it?

Age

  • Less collagen and elastin, so skin is less springy
  • Thinner, drier skin with less fat and oil
  • The genes you are born with

Sun and smoke

  • Years of sunlight on uncovered skin
  • Smoking, which cuts the making of new collagen
  • Air pollution

Other things

How is it found?

Wrinkles are usually a normal part of ageing and need no tests. See a doctor if they come unusually fast for your age.

Skin check

A skin doctor (dermatologist) looks at your skin and asks about sun, smoking and your family.

Thyroid blood test — if needed

If the skin is very dry and coarse, the doctor may check whether the thyroid is underactive.

Before giving Gal, the neurotherapist first checks it for pain — in LMNT, Gal is given for wrinkles after that check. The therapist also asks about asthma, leukaemia, passing little urine, heart disease, and bamboo spine or heel spur, because of the bars on Gal and (4) Thrd.

How Neurotherapy (LMNT) sees Wrinkles

LMNT teaching says the skin is looked after by four things together: the hormones oestrogen and progesterone, the gall bladder, and the thyroid gland. So for rough skin or wrinkles it gives (4) Thrd, for the thyroid, and Gal, for the gall bladder — Gal only after checking it for pain. Guruji's teaching also noticed that people with skin problems often had pain at Gal, and many had constipation too.

A different sign is also named: a forehead that does not wrinkle at all when the person looks surprised. That points to the face nerve — nerve number seven — as in Bell's palsy, and for it LMNT gives (7) Medulla. Neurotherapy (LMNT) does not stop ageing; it aims to help the body look after the skin.

Guruji says
In this therapy we do not treat the disease; rather, we improve the body.

Neurotherapy (LMNT) treatment for Wrinkles, step by step

  1. Examine first

The therapist checks the diagnostic points Liv° and Mu°, checks Gal for pain, and asks about the conditions in which Gal or (4) Thrd is not given.

  2. Gal — when it is painful

With the patient lying on the back, the therapist's right sole presses down the patient's left thigh, hip to knee, without stopping.

  3. (4) Thrd

The flats of both palms on both sides of the hollow of the throat — never a fingertip. Given for rough skin and wrinkles, when none of its bars applies.

  4. If the forehead will not wrinkle

Only after a doctor has checked the face: (15) Medulla first, then (7) Medulla, three treatments, one and a half minutes apart.

Never do this

  • Gal is not given in leukaemia or other illness with a raised white cell count, in asthma, or to someone passing little urine. Gal
  • (4) Thrd is not given in asthma, to heart patients, or in bamboo spine, heel spur or any unwanted bone growth. (4) Thrd
  • Get emergency help first if one side of the face suddenly droops, an eye will not close, speech is slurred, or an arm or leg goes weak. See a doctor if wrinkles appear unusually fast for your age.
  • Cancer: if the person has cancer, (10) Pan, Thymus, Pit, Lu + Sh, Rt. Ov / Lt. Ov and (30) Medulla are never given — the therapist changes the plan.
  • Keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed. Neurotherapy (LMNT) works alongside your medical care, never instead of it.

Test yourself

1. Which fibres keep skin firm and springy?

2. In LMNT, what is done before Gal is given for wrinkles?

3. In which of these is (4) Thrd not given?

What research says

No clinical trial of Neurotherapy (LMNT) for wrinkles has been published yet. Improvements reported by neurotherapists are clinical observations.

For you

People who work in the sun

Cover up, wear a hat and use sunscreen — sun is the biggest outside cause of wrinkles.

Smokers

Smoking cuts the making of new collagen. Stopping helps your skin as well as your lungs.

People with asthma or heart disease

Gal and (4) Thrd are not given in asthma, and (4) Thrd is not given to heart patients. Tell your therapist first.

This page explains; it does not diagnose. Neurotherapy (LMNT) works alongside your medical care — keep taking the medicines your doctor prescribed, and see a doctor for any new or severe symptom.
